JOHN McCain's aides unceremoniously tipped the bucket on Sarah Palin yesterday, portraying her and her family as Alaskan "hillbillies" while it was revealed that the controversial vice-presidential candidate thought Africa was a country.

The Australian wrote:

Recriminations are inevitable after an electoral failure this grand, but even so, Senator McCain's senior staff -- looking to deflect blame -- went for the jugular, telling journalists in off-the-record briefings that Ms Palin, whom they had already characterised as a rogue diva, spent more than the reported $US150,000 ($216,000) on clothes, shoes and jewellery for herself and her family.

The Australian wrote:

Fox News reporter Carl Cameron disclosed yesterday that McCain insiders told him during the campaign that Ms Palin could not name any of the three countries that form the North American Free Trade Agreement -- the US, Mexico and Canada -- and did not know that Africa was a continent and not a country.

The Australian wrote:

The merciless attack on Ms Palin -- who aides said was also given to frequent "temper tantrums" -- comes in retaliation for what McCain's staff considered a treasonous act by Ms Palin's team in the final weeks of the campaign.

McCain aides believe Ms Palin decided to look after her own political image -- she has her eyes set on the 2012 presidential campaign -- by leaking to the media that she had been "mishandled" by McCain's campaign -- particularly Ms Wallace and chief strategist Steve Schmidt -- in the disastrous interview she did with newsreader Katie Couric. The media in turn lapped up the story of a campaign unravelling, distracting Senator McCain's campaign.
Looks like the Blame Game has started, and despite John McCains best efforts to be gracious and take the blame for the election loss onto himself, his Senior Staff have other ideas. This will completely kill off any chance of Palin 2012 happening.

Guess this rules out Palin for any top government jobs for a long time to come ...

She was McCain's biggest error, not a single shred of doubt about it. In a more magnanimous than usual article by right wing blowhard Charles Krauthammer he singles out some of the reasons why:

Palin wouldn't even get pass the GOP 2012 primary primaries. They know they have serious image issues and Palin is a step backwards, unless Obama fucks up so badly that the USA is begging for some sort of ultra neo con religious fundamentalist loon. Even then, someone else would get the job.

In 4 years time, if Obama has not f-ed up completely, & Palin decides to run again, unless she has by then developed a persona that is able to attract more than just the far right ultra-conservatives, then she will not get far imho.

Someone post the video where Palin said Africa was a country or something

Oh, she didn't say it, but Fox News reported it. And if Fox News are dishing dirt on Palin, then you know something is wrong

Doesn't matter now though, she's fucked for life

Big surprise. The people who were actually responsible for losing the campaign are blaming someone else. Palin did everything that they wanted her to do. Just because someone was a poor choice it doesn't mean that it was they themselves that caused this. VP picks are tools. They simply picked up the wrong tool. I wrote this last night.

A lot of people are saying Palin was responsible for McCains defeat. Not really. In fact she did exactly what she was supposed to do. It was just a poor move by the idiots running McCain's campaign. Rallying the base is not what you do when you are going after undecideds. Albeit it's an effective tactic during the primaries. I'll even admit I was all like:

.. at first. But the novelty of "an outsider" soon wore off and the reality of unpreparedness became evident. Sure she flubbed on some questions.. but they all did. In fact Biden's blunders might have been more damaging. He was confused when it came to some of the campaigns official position (clean coal anybody?). I guarantee you I can go tit for tat when comparing wtf moments between both VP's. Palin was never a candidate that could have hit the ground running (like Romney). Truth be told if she polished up her political game and got one of them thar fancy senatorial seats she might actually have a chance later on. I wouldn't count on it though.
Palin didn't lose it. Those fucktards are just trying to pass the blame. They campaign organizers drove McCain into the ground. The turn for Obama started long before Palin joined the ticket.

Are we still talking about that "one" aide who won't show his/her face. Either way Barack won the election. Palin didn't lose it.

I reckon that if McCain had had some 'safe pair of hands' Republican on his ticket he would have made a fight of this election.

Palin brought absolutely nothing to the table except a pretty face.

Palin did lose it for the republicans but McCain picked her so it's his fault in the end.

She brought something. It was just something they didn't have to worry about. If you are looking to dig a hole and you bring a screwdriver to do the job, don't blame the screwdriver.

I explained. The country wanted to shift direction in both elections. We can only tolerate so much of any one party. Especially in the century.

Ignorant is not knowing jack about a person and yet bad mouths them on the basis of unproven rumors coming from incompetent fucks.. The energy plan she put together was comprehensive and far surpasses anything any other state has done .. . You just keep operating under the assumption that she is just a dumb bimbo though. It's the popular thing to do I guess.
