well considering he isn't even president yet (only president-elect) it's not like he can snap his hands and make tuition cheaper... yet

I for one am glad that we'll get universal health care (unless he turns out to be a fucking two timer, I hope he's not)... no more worries for my mother regarding insurance
lol... yeah, no more worries about your health insurance, just getting in to see a doctor before you die.  And hope your health care workers are not too bitter having their paychecks cut... or being able to choose your doctor for that matter.  And nevermind that overworked nurse who is covering twice the amount of beds that would even be safe.  You don't need to worry about your health insurance; just worry about 1/3 - 1/2 of your paycheck going to taxes to pay for it.

we weren't really worried about that
it's more a matter of being able to get necessary medications without selling our house to pay for them.

Got no choice now, do I?  I am IN the healthcare field.  I am going to BE one of those bitter nurses, fighting to pay my student loans while stuck on a goverment paycheck, unable to find a job for a better money, because the government runs it all, and the bean counters get to decide what my services are worth, regardless of the fact that they did not pay for my education.  Oh, well.  It is al goverment job after all- I can't be fired for killing less than, say, 20 people a year?  And just think... you won't even have a choice who to see....

That's okay.  You won't be getting any new drugs anyway... cure for cancer?  forget about it... have to cut funding, paid for by those expensive meds.  Cure Aids?  Oh, the goverment will pay for it!  So you are paying for those with your taxes again.

I hope Obama does something so absolutely appalling that it teaches the American people that they cannot sit back and let the political winds take them. I want the other party to fuck up to bring vigilance and cynicism back to the American people.

It's a pity Presidents have to be scapegoats at the moment, Bush and Obama, but if in the long run it makes people understand that even if the President is in it for truly altruistic motives (yeah right), they are only human and they can't satisfy everyone.
Sadly, "America", collectively, only has a long term memory span of about 20 years.  The ensuing vigilance and cynicism will only last about that long.  That is why I am hoping that he does not "fuck up".  That's the difference between Reps. and  Dems. and independents.  I don't want anyone to lose more than I want us to win.

One would hope so, but there are no guarantees.  If there is a choice, how many medical professionals would choose the horror of 'national health care?'  Do not forget that the model the Dems love (Canada) is currently in a state of meltdown, and healthcare is only proceeding at all because private practices are operating under technically illegal methods.

we fight our wars with their money, why not educate our kids?
Or we could educate our kids with the 150 Billion dollars that are going overseas for the expressed purpose of educating other country's kids.

It is not just me, it is the situation of thousands of doctors, nurses, CNAs, paramedics, and EMTs throughout the healthcare system.  Yeah, we have choices.  We have racked up thousands and thousands of dollars of debt training for our chosen professions.  We like helping people yes, but we also like making money, paying those bills, buying a house, maybe even raising a family.  Now that we are in thousands of dollars of debt now, yes NOW we have a choice... we can continue on into a field that is changing around us, for the detriment of all who work there and quesionable gain for the patients. Or we could eat those losses and years of wasted education and start again.

All so you can have a net savings of a hundred dollars a month (if you had insurance before)... or so you can PAY more in taxes (if you didn't have insurance).  Plus your quality of care WILL go down.  You don't see the problem because you don't care to.  After all, it isn't your problem... yet.

Hey, if there IS national health care, at least I am guaranteed a job, though, even if it doesn't pay for shit.  And hey, I can declare all those debts null and void, since I will be poor enough, and everyone knows the Dems don't expect poor people to pay those debts.. I will just pass them off for taxes of all those other people to pay, right?

First, imortal, you have to wrack up a load of debt.  Only then will they take pity on you.

Day said she didn't vote for Obama because he was black, but hoped he would serve to inspire the African-American community.

"Obama will lift blacks up as a people. He will stop black on black hostility. I didn't vote for him because he's black but I know he will lift us up."

Okay lady I luv you buh-bye!

Probably be cutting back on business expenditures in the years to come. Like a second crew. I think I'll stay out of the blogosphere for awhile. As much as the last two elections stank, the smugness of this one reeks to high heaven.
