i gotta admit, the celtics are playing determined basketball right now.  they really look like they want it...

...so did anyone catch on to the cavs rumor?  apparently delonte west was sleeping with lebron's mom.  he found out during game 4 of the series, got in a fight with west, and never really focused on the games.  i find it hard to believe, but that's the current excuse spreading like wildfire around here.

im sure it'll show up soon, there isn't much about it yet

in all honesty i would like to see him do that without kobe/shaq/MJ tbh.  a truly awesome coach would be able to take memphis or someone like that to the title.

you gotta give the man credit for controlling those massive egos and helping them become great players.  sure he always had talent, but think of all those other coaches who did and couldn't win the title.  (lenny wilkins)

do you think jordan would have won as many titles if doug collins was still coaching them?  i don't think they would have three-peated.  twice.

it's impossible to tell if any coach in that position would do well, but i can't help but think the cavs were a head coach short of a championship team this season.

i do not agree.  shaq was shit.  most people knew that yet they went with it.  danny should be fired also.

we didnt need shaq during the boston series.  we should've ran boston to death with hickson and verajao.  any coach could see that, except brown.

But Doug had MJ.  And Rudy T had Kobe. Del Harris had Shaq and Kobe.  And Phil lost with both MJ and Kobe/Shaq.

I think it takes a great coach and great players along with a great season.  You can set key components like a good coach and good players but you also have to make sure the team is firing on all pistons and properly prepared mentally and physically.  I think Phil, Stan Van, Pop, Sloan and Doc Rivers are some of the better coaches in that regard.  Maybe throw George Karl and Larry Brown in there too.

Sloan will never get Coach of the Year because he has good players in a good system that never quite get to the top - over .500 21/24 seasons, been in the lottery once, win too many to get good picks and lose too many to win it all . . .
