The actual reason was "The woman, who has been jailed on suspicion of illegally accessing a computer and manipulating electronic data" - and not for killing some virtual dude.

How did I know it was somewhere in East Asia, though. How did I just know.

Yeah, but what she is being charged with is a real crime.  She broke into his computer and destroyed data.

I guess if they really wanted they could crack down domestically...
Good luck though getting international jurisdiction over an online video game, especially dealing with just account deletion.
I don't think Japan nor any other country would do shit if someone outside of the country pulled something off that's so minor.
