that's been my experience so far...
It's not easy... but me and my current woman were practically besties before going to the next level.. You've got to get them looking at you in another light, not like a brother. Comment on how hot other girls are when you're around her. But then tell her they've got nothing on her. shit like that. Little things to set the frame of mind ..lol

There's a big risk in it. Like i said earlier in the thread, it's tough to go back to just being friends if it doesn't work out. Especially if you guys were really close. I mean sure you can still be friends, but it's almost never like it was before.

Generally as women get older they wise up to the arseholes and start to go for guys that treat them better. Being the nice guy doesn't really do you many favours. Not saying don't be nice, but too many guys think being nice is to be a pushover and be there at her beck and call. You gotta make yourself a little distant, a bit interesting and don't fall for her games, ever.
I didn't say it couldn't happen. But making out and the random romping isn't the same as seriously dating and developing romantic feelings for that person.
As far as the wising up with age.. my girl is 24, I treat her good, and she knows and respects it. i will concede that may not be the norm though.

Yeah it's not the same for everyone, but I've seen it a few times where a girl goes out with a douche and a couple years later breaks up and wonders what she saw in him in the first place.
Or they think they can change them. I've asked before what a girl (friend) saw in some not-so-caring-guy.. her response was "he can learn to be sensitive, he's just never seen it". It's like they sympathize with them, and feel they owe it to them to show them the way. Meanwhile, they don't change and the girl continues to get crapped on.

i've met a few that were mostly independent.. loved to claim to be. Yet they'd text me at 3am when they had a bad dream or needed to talk to someone. I think almost everyone has those moments, when they just need someone to listen and not be a douche.

My ex is fiercely independent; if I tried to help her with stuff without her asking she'd take offence. She also wanted someone who understood her, and I did. Our lives just took two seperate paths so we split whilst we could still remain friends. No hard feelings.Kmar wrote:

My current girlfriend loves the fact that I'm sensible and her rock. She admits she's a bit of a scaredy cat and with her current troubles with her housemates (she's moving out) she said she's found it really difficult to have to do it by herself and would LOVE my help, my support.
Guess I must appeal to both types.
