Not necessarily true. You can assume how well the 7900GT/X will do based on the official reviews of the X1900XT/X, which should be available by Tuesday. I'd bet that the 7900GT/X will be around/a little better than the X1900 series.

You have to consider the Price vs Performance perspective. We know the 7900GT/X will be better than the 7800 series, but by how much? So far, from USER reiews, the X1900series is pretty close to the X1800 series, thus making the card not so great for the price.

Speculation about this card serves no purpose. See what the X1900 does in reviews from sites such as [H]ard|OCP - then figure the 7900GT/X will be around those marks, if not higher. But to say it'll "kill any card out there on the market," isn't a wise remark.

Whatever you do, make sure you get a mobo with PCI Express on it - the new gfx cards that are coming out are going to be largely PCI-E I believe, and I think that this will be the replacement for the AGP slots.

Umm, you have it backwards. AGP is old technology. I don't even think you can get a 7 series in AGP. AGP just can't handle the bandwidth that the video card can.

lol, it's a very wise remark indeed, the 7900 GT/X shits all over the X1900 series. It performs 70% better then SLi 512mb 7800 GTX at stock level, so I can't wait to see it overclocked. And we all know how much better SLi 512mb 7800 GTX are then the x1900.

Where in the hell are you getting these numbers? I guarantee you the 7900 will not give you a 70% increase over the 7800gtx 512. It's already been stated the x1900 will perform better than the 7800gtx 512. I doubt Nvidia will win this time around. The only reason they won last round is because of the 7800gtx 512, which is vapourware.

but didnt the ATI x1800XL use 512MB video memory as well? X1900 will beat the 7800GTX 512mb, then nvidia will make sumthing better, ati will make sumthing better than that and were all stuck w/ 6 and 7 series (7800 or less) while they just want consumers to waste money

exactly give it 5 years and they'll be using 7800gtx's as 9250's for computers (make them able to run,not play games)

Hardware site HEXUS.net appears to have received confirmation that NVIDIA's next graphics processor, codenamed G71 and its first using the 90nm process, will be launched this March at CeBIT 2006 as the GeForce 7900.

The flagship 7900 GTX will sport 32 pixel pipelines and have a clock speed between 700 and 750MHz. To give perspective, NVIDIA's current flagship part, the ultra-high-end (and ultra-rare) GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB comes clocked at a comparitively measly 550MHz with 24 pixel pipelines. Cards will be outfitted with 1.1ns GDDR3 memory clocked anywhere from 800 to 900MHz, much like the aforementioned 7800 GTX 512MB.

Information obtained from one card vendor boasted a single 700MHz GeForce 7900 reaching a score of 13,000 in 3DMark 2005 coupled with an AMD Athlon FX-60, which is more than 70%% the record achieved by dual 7800 GTX 512MB configuration in SLI.

lol what a bunch of loosers..
first all you guys saying check his last comp had a X1800 shouldnt be true ---> well i changed from 7800gtx256mb to the 512mb version.. some ppl DO change hardware right away when a new product is out.. the once with the cash for it.. so all your poor ass loosers that only change system every 2nd year just because you cant change system when a new better piece of hardware is out dosnt mean others cant..
and also my 11 years old kid has a FX-57 and my father a FX-60 so age or knowlege has nothing to do with your hardware.. none of them would have ANY idea witch is the best GFX on the market today..

now for all the once who is saying that ati's X1900 will beat the G71 chip.. sry but your all gonna eat thoose words.. trust me..

then to the creator of this topic witch probably isnt going to read this because some poor ass loosers who cant take others got a better system than them, i would suggest that you buy one of the GOOD 6600GT cards with 1.1Ghz memory and wait for the G71 chip will come on the market or if you wanna get the best machine now go for the XFX or BFG 7800gtx 512mb OC versions.. personally i would suggest the first option with your other hardware components..

last i just wanna say that if you dont have any advice to give a creator of such topic like this then dont write anything.. NOBODY with alittle interests in this wanna hear your lol or any other bitching comment that has nothing to do with the quistion asked just because your jealous.. show the creator some respect and keep all talk in the topic to the quistion..

I don't like taking parts in heated debates or arguments... but I always wanted to point out things from a different perspective.  Thus... I've bolded a quoted portion of a previous post...

Do remember that in order to sell a product, you have to advertise it in a way that it'll be better than the previous generation.  There's no point in bringing out a product that may (in reality) boast a small % in increased performance over the previous generation and the only way to promote it is to boast something else.

Until I see a more extensive benchmarks run on the new hardware, I'm not willing to believe what anyone else say.  What you read can only be described as speculations... and any company that's going to sell a product will say anything to promote it and generate hype for future sales.  Anyone reading whatever numbers from a site or  something quoted from somewhere should not believe a single word until there's more concrete evidence and proof that it does perform "as advertised."

This doesn't add up. The 7800 GTX 512 in SLI scores 12,200. If the 7900 reaches 13,000, thats  a little under a 7% increase, as I said your numbers are way off. 7% of 12,200 is 854, you numbers only show an 800 increase in the numbers.
