Last night's debate was supposed to be foreign policy & national security, no? Yet the first half had to do with the economy.

The third presidential debate (the second is town-hall style) is supposed to be domestic and economic policy. However, I feel like that debate would focus mostly on the economy. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I'd like to hear about their domestic policy as well!

IMO, two hour-long debates (one on economy, one on domestic policy) would be better. Thoughts?

While it was a good debate, all in all I felt like I had Chinese take out; I was hungry for answers one hour later.

Why wasn't Obama asked about the money he has been getting from Fannie and Freddy?

Why wasn't Obama asked about the Global Poverty Tax he has planned that if passed, would create a massive new tax on us all?

Bah.

You're biased. You shouldn't expect Obama or his team to be scrutinized.

I'm pretty sure the plan was to have it as National Security/Foreign Policy being the top debating points last night, but because of the economic crisis and Americans wanting to know urgently what the candidates are going to do, they had a part of it dedicated to the economy.

I don't think there should be a separate debate JUST on the economy. Everything ties together at the Presidential level. There are generally three recognized elements of national power that the Executive can leverage: Diplomacy, Information, Military, and Economy. Successful national leadership uses the right mix of all four to achieve national goals. I think both did a pretty good job last night of tying things together, relating key issues to national security.
