I've never heard that used as a compliment. 

If I called you a bastard, you could say I insulted you.  If you actually were a bastard, you might get offended.  Maybe you are a pussy for getting offended at what could or could not be an offhand remark, maybe I am insensitive for delivering what could be construed as more than an offhand remark.  Maybe we could avoid the whole thing by me not calling you a bastard.

I wouldn't take offence to being called a bastard. Maybe it's because I'm distant but you'd have to say something seriously bad to make me offended, I don't think I ever have been. (well, expect one time in a restaurant but that's a different story) You wouldn't have conveyed your appropriate emotions had you not called me it, therefore it was a benefit overall for you doing so. And it's good for me too because then it allows me to know how you feel about me. Isn't that a good thing?

But what is the threshhold for tolerance? I mean groups like the ACLU, Rainbow Coalition and the NAACP are advocates for equality so long as it fits their agenda and there is profit to be made, they really could care less about anyone outside their own ranks although they say otherwise. We have the Washington Redskins but if there was a team called the Hartford Porchmonkeys I am pretty sure they would speak up and Jesse Jackson would find a camera to be in front of.

I'm not necessarily saying that a certain group is wronged, I am just saying that certain race groups are favored. The same groups that are favored scream for equality, however, the fact that we have programs that accelerate some races more than others indicates otherwise.

I agree with that sentiment. Unless someone is actually inciting violence or forcefully waving an issue continually in your face against your will then just dry your eyes and get over it... it seems people forget that it's possible to ignore something if they dislike it!

People get offended over the stupidest stuff, too...apparently people out there feel that there was all sorts of bigotry in the move Tropic Thunder, but I watched it in a theatre here in Kansas City with 5 black people sitting behind me who laughed their asses off at Roberty Downey Jr.'s character...I just don't get it.

Racism in America is truly a problem propagated by people on both "sides" of the issue, and due to that sad circumstance I don't see it ever really disappearing in our lifetimes...

There are people who still do inherently racist things, and there are people who will deem inherently harmless things as racist...its hard to overcome something in circumstances like that.



I hope that made sense, I just got done writing 19 pages on the history of race and civil rights in the United States since the inception of the Constitution, so yeah, I'm kind of jaded on this whole issue right now....
