Tried this in the tech section and didn't get any help before it got buried, hoping for more luck here.

I have been working on a project for a while no problem using Sony Vegas 6.0, then I got to a stage and it wouldn't perform any tasks after about 30 seconds of opening or when I reached a certain point on the timeline (when played from start).. It would encounter an error and have to close. Every time.
I thought i could solve it by getting Sony Vegas 8.0 Pro, but it happens on this too.
Would it have anything to do with number of video tracks being processed at once? (i have 10 open with 5 used at one point) Or a lack or processing power?
If you need any more info just ask me.
Would appreciate a speedy response, have been working on it for a couple of weeks and it is nearing completion!

Specs:
2.2GHz dual core processor
2GB DDR2 RAM
256MB GeForce 7300

*ADDITION* had a look at the error reporting, and it always seems to have something to do with "frapsvid.dll", all my footage is fraps footage.
I think i heard somewhere of a conflict between fraps clips and Vegas, anybody offer any clarification?

Unfortunately, Fraps files are generally causing problems with video editing programs such as Vegas or Avid, that's fact. I recommend a total rendering of your completed work and then start a new project for the rest of your clips. This is exactly what I did 1 year ago when I was playing with another program called MAGIX, it just wouldn't let me continue my work after the 10 min timeline...

Start a new project from freezing point, if you're finished with FRAPS you could try uninstalling it for duration of the project.
Only freezing I encounter with vegas is if a file is > 4GB if you drag more than 2 of that size at a time it turns to aids.
Otherwise Vegas is sex.

Uninstalling Fraps works you think?
I solved it by making my movie in 3 sections, rather than 1 -.- I think it just depends how much editing is going on in the clip.
I have made movies in vegas with out lots of editing effects and managed to make much longer sequences.

Well uninstalling FRAPS would remove the dll from your PC I presume?
And that was my next suggestion, it just makes it a pain to work 3 projects instead of one.

OK, i have the movie completed, but when I render in .avi format on best at 1280x720 res, the finished clip lags out when playing and it jerky on video and audio.
When I render in .wmv the video and audio is fine, but a lot of the tracks are letterboxed and not how they appear in the preview.
Can anyone help me and recommend the best rendering format?

*EDIT* Sorted it...just rendered in original res with .avi, on 'Best' and it seems fine.
