But isn't there a supermassive black hole at the centre of this galaxy?dANNN wrote:
The mayans never knew that the world was going to end, they simply recorded the exact time that the earth will be DIRECTLY in the centre of the galaxy ( or the milky way or wateva ) this apparently means that there will be a a higher chance of a solar flare hitting earth and instantly evaporating all life on the planet. Cant be bothered researching at the moment but look it up, its true.
If we were directly at the centre, we'd be fucked.
Why must you mock me
Yeah
Or something
I think I mean vertical plane not horizontal plane....think of it as a 3D box with a dot in the middle. The dot is the center of the galaxy, in 2012 we will be in-line with that dot along the X axis.Mek-Stizzle wrote:
No it's not when we'll be in the centre of the galaxy. It's when the earth will be in-line with the center of the galaxy on the horizontal plane. As in, we'll be right in the middle of the thickness/height of the galaxy. Not in the middle of the galaxy itself.steelie34 wrote:
ah i see. for a minute there i though that guy said the earth will end up at the center of the galaxy... becuase if we ended up in the middle of this:SEREVENT wrote:
I thought some guy said it was when the calendar just ended... and instead of humans dying and whatnot... we just learn new skils and stuff.

a solar flare seems like the least of our worries.
Yeah
Or something

Well one of the theories of the big bang is that it happens in cycles, instead of an ever expanding universe, it will all eventually collapse in on inself to a singularity only to explode again, etc.Mek-Stizzle wrote:

So, we might end up in the centre of everything.

Yeah but that's in billions of years and right now we're still expanding, we're talkin bout 2012 here
Well, time is relative m80.Mek-Stizzle wrote:

You're relative
