DICE - they really answer Emails!

I send an Email to DICE Sweden to get informations about all this tweaking with the Usersettings.con etc.

Here is, what they answered:

Hi Kei

Thank you for contacting us regarding Usersettings and Sound files. The only modification to these settings is purely client side and a placebo effect. Only the type of network connection you have selected affects any kind of latency and should be set to what the connection is to avoid bottlenecks on the connection. Other settings such as those found in the Sound con file will only benefit low end machines that need to free up resources to allow the game to run smoothly.

The server will only send information to the client at its normal rates based on what the connection to it is.

Battlefield 2 Update 1.50 is still in development and we are currently working with game partners to make Battlefield 2 a more secure gaming environment. More news regarding the release will be released in the near future.

My question to EA would be why they have the usersettings.con, then... Oh, and don't forget that those Helpdesks/custumor support tell a lot of crap all the time, seriously, in most cases the player knows more about the game than the guy who works at CS.

At bigger Companies, i would agree with that, but how many people are working at DICE? If you work at Customer Support there, every Programmer will only be some steps away. Sure it wasn´t the guy answering, who made the netcode over there, but shall we doubt what they say? There is still no proof, that the tweaks are working.

So a guy says that modifications to the usersettings.con files and using programs like hitregtweaker has no effect whatsoever. But you guys still don't know whether to believe him or not. Where the hell does that help us? We're still in the same dilemma; Does it work or not?
