An interesting concept, but not sure it will work. The topic selection would need to be agreed upon by a group representative of the membership here, nationality-wise. Some topics of interest in Europe seem fairly esoteric to Americans and vice versa (replace EU and US with any two other regions/cultures).
Plus, one of the more interesting bits (I find, anyway) of D&ST is researching a topic to respond. If you have an open mind (and don't ignore/dismiss ideas that contradict your preconceptions), you learn quite a bit.

Ok, you start by defending why it should be up to the achievers, to drag along all of the trash who refuse to do anything for themselves except bitch about how society is keeping them down. Keeping in mind that I have always defended taking care of the sick, disabled and children of society who can not take care of themselves. These people ar easily distinguished from the riff raff by, education history, work history, tax history criminal history, or even applications for school grants, or loans or jobs.Uzique wrote:

Get a clue, classical social liberalism is far different from the American political spectrum's take on 'liberalism'. So keep your rhetoric to yourself, my care-meter on these issues is empty!lowing wrote:

I musta mis-understood when you said "IT'S ON" LMAO!!!
You also musta mis-understood the last sentence stating "Which is why I don't care about American liberalism".
I guess by that point you were far too fired up and ready to unless some ego-preening rhetoric on me .

no. last thing i want to hear is some teen talking like they know something.
I'm guessing most of the people participating would be the regulars, and they've all proven that they know something.usmarine wrote:

theyve proven they know how to use google.
Nope, I just didn't know which way you were gunna fall since you tell "it is on" and tell me "you don't care" in the same sentence. I figured you were gunna wait and see what I posted then decide if you wanted to engage in a debate or not. Now I know.Uzique wrote:

I do not want your form of liberalism either, since it is the same damn thing. You pay out the ass in taxes for a govt. security blanket, you could manage on your own. Your govt.'s own your asses and have complete control over you, all the way down to the fact that you are not even allowed to defend yourselves.

Sorry, I do not google my opinions. When someone mentions a person or event I am not familiar with, I will google and admit that I needed to do so.God Save the Queen wrote:

Regardless of what you think, the American "liberals" you talk about all the time are hardly liberal.lowing wrote:

I've told you before that there are checks and balances in place to stop freeloaders abusing the Socialist system in most European Socialist states, anyone who is doing so is breaking the law and usually has to go to great lengths to remain doing so without having all benefits cut and ending up in court.lowing wrote:

On topic: debate sounds interesting but logistically awkward.
I see, so are you telling me you hate them as well and completely disagree with what they are trying to do to our country?Spearhead wrote:

England subscribes to a socialist political system, not a classical liberalist doctrine. You still haven't followed my original recommendation to go read up on something other than that which falls in your own narrow-scope of interest, have you?
And my "Oh dayum, it's on!" was a humurous retort to your arrogant and bigoted first-post... I swear almost every other post you make in D&ST is more flamebait and personal attacks on poster's own viewpoints than anything else. What decent American Liberal poster here honestly wants to read you senselessly and unintelligently bashing their political standing in a thread discussing something that has fuck all to do with it whatsoever. I really am sorry that you could not pick out the (blatantly apparent) sarcasm in my first post.
And Spearhead is right, most people claiming to be Liberal in stance in the American political forum are ironically the opposite of what the classic and early founders of philosophical liberalism stood for. Classical liberalism is inherently anti-capitalist for a start.

lowing, give me a break. most of your OP's get sourced from obscure blogging sites. Again, I wasnt even thinking of you with my post, but since you volunteered yourself as an example for the google ranger, I am now.

The real liberals are much further left than the "liberals" in the Democratic party. So ya I hate them (the Dems), but I hate the GOP and the neocons even more.lowing wrote:

"arrogant and bigoted". I can understand how you can call my posts arrogant, but where in the world did you get bigoted from?Uzique wrote:

I do not ( hardly) attack anyone. In fact if you read, I am usually the one bombarded with attacks.
Speaking of arrogant, have you re-read your bullshit as of late?
