Well guys, just be glad it isn't as bad here as it is in some other countries.
Seems like he was either right or close for most of them. That last one about the drugs...not so much.
wow some of them are very good. And I loled at the prediction that almost everyone in America will be fit and thin, and will be able to easily walk 10 miles
Interesting...not from the US, don't know how close this is, but I'm guessing I'm pretty much on the mark.
Five hundred million people (350M-500M) in the US - close.
The American will be taller - I don't know, but I'm told pretty much every country is taller these days so I guess so.
No C, X or Q - LOL! He would have been more accurate predicting the downfall of the letter U
Hot and cold air from spigots - Does AC count?
No mozzies or flies - I doubt it somehow.
Ready-cooked meals - Everything bar the tubes and labs is pretty much there...although there are some devices which you could call a "lab" eg.breadmaker
No foods will be exposed - Glass counters and refridgeration?
No street cars in large cities - Riiiight.
Photos being telegraphed - Pretty much. From mobile devices too.
150mph trains - Some trains go faster I guess. I don't really care much for trains, TBH.
Automobiles cheaper than horses - I don't know fuckall about horses, but I doubt it. Replacing all horse-vehicles, unless you're talking about the Amish then pretty much.
Everybody will walk ten miles - Hah!!
To England in two days - Again, don't know. By plane yeah but by boat?
Airships won't compete with cars/trains/etc - Hah!! But they were right about science/military applications.
Forts on wheels and smoke-emitting airships - I guess the germans kinda planned the fort thing in WW2, and guns can shoot more than 25 miles, and are aided by compases and telescopes (GPS, and AC-130 count?)
No wild animals - Riiiight...
Man will see around the world - Right on
Telephones around the world - Again, right on
Grand Opera will be telephoned - As long as TV counts, yep. I don't know about multi-city orchestras, but if surgery over the internet is possible, why not...
Free education - Not sure...they were right about simplified english though..
Store purchases by tube - Whats this guys fascination with pneumatic tubes? Clicking "buy it" on some website just doesn't count, it still gets thrown around/stamped on by freight sorters etc
Vegetables grown by electricity - They sure are, and marijuana too
Strawberries the size of apples, peas the size of beet - Yeah its possible, but not common
Black, blue and green roses - Yes. But who gives a fuck?
Few drugs will be swallowed - Some of it has come to be, some hasn't

Here's another interesting read - "What will life be like in the year 2008" (written in 1968)
http://blog.modernmechanix.com/2008/03/ … year-2008/
http://blog.modernmechanix.com/2008/03/ … year-2008/
The "everybody will be able to walk 10 miles" one was pretty dead on. Phys Ed. is mandatory in most schools, almost all schools have a gym, there's a public gym in just about every city, and some girls DO indeed start gymnastics at like 5 or 6. Or, if it's China, 2.

It's more accurate than if we were to try and predict what the world will be like in 100 years time from now. I can't even really imagine how insane things will be in say, 30 years time. Insane as in, technology/development wise. Not Insane as in bad
350-500M in the USA:
A bit over the top, but close enough.
Taller people:
correct
No C, X or Q:
I wish. Phonetic spelling should definitely be introduced to English (it's what makes Spanish easier to learn)
Hot and Cold air from spigots:
Air conditioning or heaters - works, close enough
No Mosquitos:
Again, I wish
Ready Cooked Meals:
God yes, I could not go through university without them
No foods will be exposed:
Foods are mostly packaged, so he's pretty much right on
Coal won't be used for heating or cooking:
Besides the occasional barbeque, I'd have to say they're right
No Street cars:
Well, some cities are introducing this, but we still have a long way to go
Photographs will be telegraphed:
One word: Internet
Trains will travel at 150mph:
I think there may be some trains that go that fast
Cars will be cheaper than horses:
I think so... You can get a car for $500 (and it'll be better than a horse, at least)
Everyone will walk 10 miles:
lol - I can, but I'm not sure if everyone could...
To England in two days:
You can get there in a matter of hours
Air-Ships:
(Airplanes) yepyepyep
Aerial war-ships; Forts on wheels:
Bombers/Fighters; Tanks?
No Wild animals:
Nah...
Man will see around the world:
Internet? Satellites?
Telephones around the world:
Yes and no. Africa is still a shithole (no offence)
Grand Opera will be Telephoned:
CDs, Radio, Internet, TV - close enough
Kids will all have an education:
Yep, in modern, developed countries
Things bought in tubes:
er....
Vegetables grown worldwide:
You can, it's just not recommended
Enlarging fruit/vegetables:
Again, possible, but not recommended
Different color roses:
This one's actually really simple...
Few drugs need to be swallowed:
Shots and IV - but I prefer swallowing them, thanks
It's insane how accurate this is

Can anyone find one for one written now about the late 2000 century?
"you know life is what we make it, and a chance is like a picture, it'd be nice if you just take it"
so a total of about 2 from the left side column came true
pretty accurate tbh
edit:
about 3 or 4 of them all, so like 3 out of like a hundred predictions
3%, and i'm being relatively generous, not quite as strict as i could be
