This isn't a whole new language we're talking about here. It's still English. Yes we have the American dialect, but that's it. If we were to make up a new language and have our whole country speak it and make it our national language, then yes, we could call it American.

How do you tell the difference between a European and an American? Commonly a European speaks many languages well, and an American speaks just one poorly.
