Whenever I try to change the resolution of bf2 and whenever I try to alt tab out of the game, my computer will freeze up and a weird, distorted, and patterned image will display on the screen. I just installed a new mobo and processor and put in a new video card. It is a pci express Geforce 6600 with 256 mb of memory. It appears the problem is caused by the video card but I have no idea why. I have the latest drivers from NVIDIA installed. Any suggestions?
I dont know much about computers, but im sure your right, it is the video card. maybes its just a screwed up video card? i have no clue.
check a few things:
updated chipset drivers/flashed bios?
check screen resolution ingame vs desktop resolution (my stuff sometimes buggered up when I ran games in a different resolution to desktop)
also right click on desktop/properties/settings/advanced/monitor and check that the Hz is at your max supported (it deaults back down to 60hz when you have installed new drivers)

Thanks for the input guys. I updated all the drivers and did everything mentioned but it was still doing it. It turns out it was a faulty video card. I put in a different video card that was the same make and model as the one that was screwing up and it works wonderfully now.
