No, me neither. I find the claymores tedious as all hell though. I think they should take five seconds to set, and you should not be able to throw them from an infinite height and still have them work. That might curb the idiocy of the suicide claymore jihadis who ruin the game sometimes.

It all depends on how you react to being killed over and over by someone that you can't see.

One rarely gets killed by a sniper unless you stay still too much. I do that a lot when my attention wanders and I pause to think about something, but you have to be really stupid to let it happen more than once.

There appear to be a handful of inceredible snipers in the world who have thousands of hours experience with the kit and can kill you in ludicrous ways...but only a handful thankfully. I'm grateful that I haven't met any of them. Tbh, anybody who specialises in a kit and has thousands of hours with it should be bloody lethal or something is wrong.

That's true, but the world of BF2 is full of halfwits who are delighted with the tradeoff of their own death for one or maybe two (if they're lucky)enemies.

Another annoying thing about claymores, which I discovered yesterday: the blast radius is not affected by buildings like other explosions are. A grenade at the Insurgent Hideout flag on warlord won't hurt you if you're at ground level, but a claymore up there can and will kill you if somebody else triggers it.

But that is accurate.

In the realworld, a grenade works but packing lots of metal around an explosive core, such as C4. So when it explodes, it shreds its shrapnel out, some of which disintegrates on impact, so it is less deadly.

A claymore works the same way, however they use ball bearings which are resistant to disintegrating from the inital explosion. ball bearings can bounce off buildings at incredible rates of speed, meaning they are much more effective and deadly, as there are more "shrapnel" than a grenade, due to them not disintegrating, they travel further and at higher velocity as a claymore is a shaped charge, ie made to fire in a direction, so all the force of the explosion fires them that way, instead of a 360 degree motion.

Hence if you lie behind one and it goes off, your unharmed, but if theres buildings around and infront, you will die due to richochet, its just the game engine isnt advanced enough to show you this.

I met one of those today, his name was Iceman_MF and he killed everyone with single head shots. Just looking at him would get you killed, hell he would kill you through a building if he wanted to. He moved around constantly making it almost impossible to kill him, then when he made eye-contact it took about two seconds and I was dead. He managed to run, prone, aim to my head and pull the trigger before I knew that he had even seen me. He was crazy.

Your problem is the fact that your comparing real life sniper tactics to those of a video game. There are no rules to snipering in bf2. I enjoy getting into the thick of it with any kit.

I was going to type, how am I an asshole, but I guess I brought it upon myself.

Whats the problem with connecting real life to a video game based on real life. If the game wasn't supposed to be based on real life the soldiers would be walking around with giant laser beams ₂₁₄₂ instead of weapons actually used in the forces that are represented. I bet the producers didn't mean to have the sniper running into the thick of battle like you play it

That dude appears to be ranked number 2 in the world with the sniper rifle. I think I'll try to avoid him...
