ok...but i would still like to know where the 19 times came from. i will reserve judgement till after the investigation. you are basing your opinion off of a poorly written news article by local news people who typically and quite often get shit very wrong. but, i guess i am the one being closed minded. rightVilham wrote:

and whether it was mace, tasers, or handcuffs, there is no need to subdue a little kid with a broken back

Exactly, though am a bit confused as to what warrented calling 911? Seeing some kid walking down the steet? ZOMG call the fucking swat in.Vilham wrote:

which leads me to believe he was in a mitch-like, emo rage and jumped off the bridgeBell wrote:

Lol. The cops tazed a kid with a broken back. Fucking ridiculous. I don't see how anyone could defend that. Whether it was 19 shots or 1, they tazed a kid with a broken back.

seems like this would be all over the big networks...
i have to admit that usmarines first replies sounded ridiculous, but i must admit that he is right in that we should not place our facts on bad assumptions by the kids parents or the news reporter.
we don't know why they called 911 but it had to have been reported by the police that it happened and i'm confident that nobody would call without a damn good reason to do so (like a suicidal kid. with parents trying to get the blame away from their son (just my 2 cents))
but i can't see a reason to taser the kid 19 times in any situation but it might have been required to tase him once and who are we to judge that until it has been investigated it might have been the only way to get the kid to calm down but it all depends on the situation and we can only speculate, i don't want to defend usmarine because he's right and wrong and the cops should not be defended either. but we shouldn't assume and blame because of a (possibly) fucked up kid and his parents + reporter says bullshit. look at it rationally and don't assume but investigate or we all just come off as completely retarded or just brainwashed by the media.
and by the way marine instead of just clearing the police in your first replies it might have been usefull to give them the benefit of the doubt in the first place and actually saying so (sometimes being rough is not allways the best solution (though i must admit that i certainly is required sometimes)
