Last time i started a thread asking you guys to suggest me a good mouse, and after a while and looking at some of the mouses I actually opted for a Logitech (logitech whore i am) trackball mouse.
At first i was skeptical, the big red ball look freaky like the eye of an insect, and terribly uncomfortable.
But i saw many graphic designers using it and so i wanted to try one, 20€ is not bad, eve those shitty Trust mouses cost more.
I came back, installed it to my iMac, for the first time seeing a logitech product being recognized properly.
My first impression was, absolute comfort.
Its unbelievable how much comfy it is, the fact that you don't need to mouse you mouse around helps alot.
The ball was not easy to control at first but with 30mins of use it is easy now.
But that wasn't enough, I opened Photoshop and Illustrator and its so GOOD!!!!!
I would recommend a trackball mouse to all those people who work with computers for a long time, but since i saw a lot of people in office environments using it i don't think i need to say it.

But You cannot play with it.
Tried COD4, and I was like an retard going forward and only forward and then when i face an enemy i'm not able to shoot him because I basically make a rectangle while trying to move my ball properly to this guys body.

I used to have one, and I actually liked it a lot.

takes up a lot less space since it doesn't have to move around....that also means you can use it in your lap, hold it and use it while standing, or in bed if its wireless.

I am no big graphic artists or nothing, but I actually found it much hard to accurately use. From a stop I found it very hard to make small controlled movements like when trying to outline things.

I actually found it to be pretty good for FPS though took some getting used to, and probably not as good as a mouse... but turning around quickly was actually MUCH better since you can just kinda flick the ball, then catch it again when you want to stop.

I never really got why so many people seem to hate them.

I used a trackball with my bed computer for about a year, until it was so worn-out, that the left mouse button didn't even click.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

That was the other thing that annoyed the hell of out me, every few days I would have to pop the ball out and clean the contact surfaces or it started to feel like shit
(It was optical, but the ball rests on 3 small nubs, the ball would pick up shit from your hand and it would deposit on these adding resistance)

Damn, I want a track ball now. My drawer the keyboard sits in only has room for a mouse to sit, but not move around... bending my using the mouse up on the desk makes my wrist sore...

I don't know... I had this girl sitting on my lap when I was on the computer, and because I couldn't reach the mousepad I just used her boobie for a surface for my G7... Worked pretty well actually, It's moments like that that I'm glad I have to move my mouse around

And yes, thats not a joke...

Lucky.  I just use my leg, it's easily wide and long enough.  I have to do that at school because the computer spaces are packed so densely.  They have optical mouses there though.
