BF2S Forums An Obama publicity stunt?

Obama didn't pray for an election victory, a lottery win to help pay for his campaign, or for his Republican rival Senator John McCain to be felled by lightning or a pecadillo. On the contrary; his prayer hints at the struggle within, how Obama is seeking divine guidance to surmount the obstacles that lie ahead of him in his lonely, awesome challenge to become the next president of the United States. On hotel stationary, he penned the following prayer, according to Maariv, which ran a photo of the note: "Lord, protect my family and me," Obama wrote. "Forgive me my sins and help me guard against pride and despair. Give me the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make me an instrument of your will."

I dont see watsup, lowing.  Would McCain have said anything different?

Yeah, you don't see what is up?? The very fact that his little message to God was so pure and innocent is what is up.......He knew it was going to be read, so it hadda sound sincere and from the heart and innocent.

Or do you reallt think the next president of the US can leave such messages in public places and ASSUME it will NEVER be read.

He didn't leave it in a public space. How dumb can you get, Lowing? Seriously.

Traditionally such prayers, and there are over a million every year, some arriving by fax and email, are collected twice a year and buried on the Mount of Olives. It is considered taboo to read the prayers.

The newspaper's decision to publish Obama's private words was "an outrage", said Rabbbi Shmuel Rabinowitz,  supervisor of the Western Wall. "It damages the personal, deep part of every one of us that we keep to ourselves," the rabbi told Army Radio. "The note placed between the stones of the Western Wall are between a person and his maker. It is forbidden to read them or make use of them."

Next time you read an article, read the whole thing.

Next time you want to bash Obama for writing a prayer, try to understand that what he wrote was private.

And don't for one minute believe that this was a stunt, that he intended the prayer to be read, or that the reading of this prayer was okay as it was left in public. Because you'd be wrong on all counts.

How dumb are you? You do realise that their are American citizens who are all over the world, which still vote?

Obama does have business in Europe. He is not just a congreemen from fuckin Illinois, he is the leader of the Democratic party and is running for President.

Who cares what he wrote Lowing. Your giving it more attention than it deserves. Your a conspiracy nut thinking that this was all some pre-mediated plot by Obama for his prayer to be read and then become public.

Why the fuck would he write a message that would hurt his campaign whether private or public? Were you expecting him to have written such a letter, seriously? What would such a letter have said?
