Fair enough rating, I thnk, and it allows for the "average" movie not being a perfect 50/50 win/fail, because that's simply not true. Anyone disappointed that it wasn't any deeper than space muppets fighting corporate pirates is overthinking it. I'd go into how the film's technical excellence by far surpassed any other aspect of it, but this dead horse has already been beaten to, erm...death. At any rate, I enjoyed Hugo far more when I watched both yesterday.10--> outstanding
8-9 -->very good
6-7 -->average (meh its k)
4-5 -->below Average
0-3 -->piece of shit

avatar is below average. it was a film of visual pick-n-mix eyecandy draped over the lush, lazy clichés of dancing with wolves. excessive and exhausting stylization over a hollow substance. 7 is extremely generous. i'd honestly struggle to find a movie that is any less average than avatar.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

yeah cause good films make someone posh. film is the most democratic medium. any mong can sit on a sofa for 90 minutes and stare at a screen to watch something. watching a good movie takes zero effort. it's basically an extension of your nervous system. you really are clutching at straws here in order to counter my criticism, aren't you? ad hominem to infinitum. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. you gave a shit movie a very decent rating. i'd be really interested to see what scores a 5 or a 6 on your scale if avatar is a 7. cause that shit is about as substance-less as any blockbuster can get.unnamednewbie13 wrote:
Willow came out in '88. How old were you when it was brand new? And where do you even get off with "just watch some decent fucking movies," anyway? Based on what, twenty or so films I've rated here? Gee, that must be all of them. It doesn't matter what movie I'd casually compare Avatar to, because in the end, you seem to enjoy winding people up over trivial shit. Now rate a film on your own special scale and make sure it's posh so the internet can be properly impressed.

And you're just making this shit up as you go along, clutching at straws to manufacture a fault to criticize me about here. "Oh, you watched Avatar and Willow, and compared the future nostalgic value of one to the other. I'm guessing those are the only kinds of films you ever watch. How pedestrian!" Don't be such a dick.Uzique wrote:
