fargo - 8/10
pretty damn brilliant. always a classic.

a serious man - 9/10
love it. love the ending. love the whole theme/message. love the direction. great film.

half nelson - 9/10
not exaggerating my ratings with these last 3 high-reviews. half nelson is an incredible movie. a movie i see a lot of myself in. it's always good, in a vicarious and terribly unprofessional way, to enjoy a piece of fine art because of the reflections it casts upon yourself.

Looks like the cover of just about any other bland movie I can think of.

Just watched Resident Evil: Afterlife

Spoiler (highlight to read):
Kinda funny how they picked the very actor that starred in Prison Break, for the guy to help Alice + Co. get out of the prison

I also failed to realize that "Chris" was Chris Redfield until they started the brother, sister talk

One thing though.. Was Chris (according to RE5 lore) not a former military gone S.T.A.R.S.? The movie seems to completely ignore this

I also liked Wesker much better in RE5 than this movie

tl;dr 6/10

RE6 with Chris & Jill as the main characters = do want!

Inception - 8/10

Very good, confusing though, probably going to rewatch to clear things up like some of Nolan's other films

Yeah they are pretty much a different universe all together from what I read on the wiki

I didn't play anything pre-RE5 though

And Las Plagas & Wesker are barely even described in the movie

Well, the first portion of it was kind of disjointed. It was only when they started getting ready to go into that kid's dreams to split up his megacorporation that it started to make more sense.

The Other Guys 7/10 - had some laughs, few misses though. Could be an enjoyable film if you don't want to pay that much attention

Memento - 9/10

I know I've been dishing out the high ratings, but this deserves one too. When the credits rolled at the end of the first viewing, I immediately went back to the beginning and watched the whole thing again, my mind is tired now.....Brilliant, not much more to say.

Street fighter the legend of Chun Li
an Americanized version of a kung fu/karate movie

pros
the guy from the Mortal Kombat movie is in it Liu Kang
5/10 for martial arts

cons
even though the movie is taking place in an another country everyone somehow speaks perfect English or Americanized version of English without an Thai accent... they all speak English fluently as if they were born here in states oh wait the minute its an American movie so yea lol
well there were some scenes where they used an popular English/American terms such as for dad/papa even though it’s of off Italian origin meaning father not sure why if you were speaking Thai would you say papa like they dont have a word for father....
-the main character whoever she approaches on the streets they happen to speak English with an American accent… or anyone pretty much…
-the main character chun Li and her mentor were speaking English amongst themselves not sure why? even though they were in Thailand... they were supposed to be Thai people who were born there ect. Or that’s according to their character’s roles… you dont see die hard American people of off Anglo Saxon decent speaking Spanish in America... so the movie has this weird American culture spin to it...
everyone is assumed to know kung fu or whatever form of martial arts they were using, stupid stereotypical shit... not everyone in Asia knows kung fu/karate ect.
the main char. who barely weight 100lbs or maybe 90lbs or even less… keeps kicking everybody's ass
some of the guys who were trying to kill the main char. had so many chances to kill her and yet they let her go... or yet they failed somehow… they had clear shots they were aiming at her and for some reason or another something would occur and chun li would get away
this guy who was held in a prison cell which was like 50x50ft, he had an nice bed, weights to lift… tv.. even a computer with the internet connection...and he was held there as a prisoner lol... he should have emailed/called the cops via the internet what was he thinking?..... since there were no guards outside his cell…
overall 5/10
imbd gave it a 3.8/10 so yea nothing special a lot of inconsistencies and unrealistic shit...

When I saw it, it wasn't as confusing as I thought it might be.

Spoiler (highlight to read):
The part where he tries to spin his token, but gets interrupted, led me to think that everything that happened after was a dream. Except at the very end his token just starts to wobble.

Solid, good plot, easy to watch. Kevin Spacey playing a more standard role, but yet again, makes the film.

currently watching 'the man who wasn't there'.

love the neo-noir direction and styling. i can definitely see the parallels that i have heard about from friends to camus's l'etranger

well, that was pretty fucking damn good.

8/10. the ideas aren't particularly anything new... in fact, it pretty much is a neo-noir copy of albert camus and his absurdism. but it's very beautifully done-- as with every coen brothers film. the music was also extremely complimentary, and i think scarjo put in a good performance as the young, naive pianist. the standout thing about the entire film, though, was billy bob thornton's performance... simply incredible. it cannot be easy for an actor to act general indifference and affectlessness... but he maintains an oddly uncaring character throughout the entire film. very good and very convincing. he is the neo-noir meursault!
