one of my good friends, very smart and educated fellow, said to me once (i dunno if it's a quote from somebody): "if you change your views and tastes when you are fifteen - it's allright, you are learning; if you do that when you are 25 - it's okay, you are in the process of finding your place in life; and if you do at 35 - you are an idiot". i'm turning 35 in two months.DonFck wrote:
It may be that difference, yes.Shahter wrote:
i'd say i cought most of the refferences and stuff, but the movie still seemed idiotic to me along with its soundtrack. this undobtedly has to do with me having been raised in environment so gradually different from what you have in so called "enlightened west" that i guess i'm simply too old to adapt now. had i been younger i'd probably have understood this movie better.DonFck wrote:
Even if it's Canadian and directed by an Englishman?
Although based on a comic that I wouldn't read, I liked it a lot. The tempo of the movie along with so many 8 and 16-bit references made it have "contemporary nostalgia", I.e. late 80's to mid 90's console games brought to real life. Plus the soundtrack was to me nothing short of great (lots of Black Francis (Pixies) and Beck compositions).
You maybe didn't get to experience the console craze of NES, Megadrive, SNES etc? Maybe that's why you didn't connect with it so much?
And you're not old, Shahter.

if you open your mind too much your brain will fall out.
