so I try to start up steam to play tf2, and it has the really old theme and says updating steam, but just sits there, and eventually says can not connect to steam. Is there anything I can do without unistalling steam (last time I did that I had to re-download tf2)
Make a back-up first. (Right click the game in my games list and click back-up.)CosmoKramer wrote:

Then reinstall maybe, doubt it'll work though if you get old version.
I'm having problems as well. Mine just won't start up. I click the steam icon and either nothing happens or l get a steam up date icon which disappears after a few seconds. Then nothing. I look in my task manager under processes and steam is there using up memory but not using up any of the cpu.
Any ideas?
