Yeah, trying to make an issue out of something a pop star says is really grasping at straws. Especially when it's as completely stupid as this. Whether I agree with them or not, I think your points are usually much better than this.

alicia keys represents the african american community.  she speaks for everyone.  parker, youre smarter than that.  it seems to me the white american community loves to talk about other race.

so you post an article out of a blog that has Alicia keys, a figure that may be a bit popular but no where nearly accepted in a persons individual life as say, Pat Robertson or Ron paul.


Lowing, I wish you would post threads about white people being racist, you know, to show your impartiality and well roundedness that you seem to always claim to be a strong part of your character.

it seems some people who cry about inequality do not really want equality but rather inequality in the other direction. 

Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson make money off the race card.  instead of championing the progress of their respective race towards equality and justice, they seek to perpetuate inequality and racial strife. 

the only time i think about race is when someone brings it up and usually it's the minority in question.  i believe they are hypersensitive to those issues since they are ramrodded the stereotypical responses from their own civic leaders and entertainment community.  rather than mainstreaming towards a inclusive culture, these same people tend to hold onto a culture that actually sets them apart (in a negative light by the way) and holds them back.  Further, those that are successful (own businesses, make money like everyone else), are classified as sell-outs and not black enough.  WTH is that? 

while i agree that Alicia Keys and other celebrities are useless, let's not underestimate their effect on community perceptions.  as i said, people are continually bombarded by media these days.  'stars' use their influence to push their own agendas.  Some good, some bad.  however, most of these so-called stars actually barely graduated high-school in the case of many childhood stars, so i question their credentials.  i believe that most are in the back pockets of people like George Soros and others in the Hollywood elite.  In fact, i would think that statemetns like Keys' are par for the course - she probably wants some attention and needs record sales.  controversial behavior in these days is rewarded - look at lindsay and paris.  these people represent all that is bad within our society.  they get paid to 'show-up' at parties.  do these people really do anything to create something useful?  entertainment.  that's it.  they are not solving world hunger, inventing new ways to get us off of foreign fuels, helping cure cancer, etc.  yet, we as a western culture revere these insipid life-support systems for a vagina as 'the shit'.  our priorities are backwards.
