The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Thanks to Panzer(yet again) for the advice, and I went and bought this baby! They supplied quite a lot of cables too. Very sleak design i must say.

Dynamic contrast. 20000:1 is bullshit, 3000:1 is probably too, but it can be true on a very good panel.

2ms is grey to grey time like 99% of all screens advertise themselves, and the 20k:1 is dynamic, again like nearly all TN panel monitors, the panel is 1k:1 if i remember right (also syd yours is probably 1k:1 and 3k dynamic).

Well, despite all of the technical yada-yada, the 220 is a pretty awesome screen, especially for the price.

It's my third Dell. I have a Dimension 8250 and a XPS 3 as well. Never had any big issues with them. They are still running good. Plus I didn't want to build my own. Next one maybe. It was a few hundred more than pricing it out on newegg.

I suppose that's not too bad, even if you sourced parts and got a local shop to build it to save building it yourself you'd get more for the money though.

I stand by my

Dells cost more than building your own, but most of them don't even have solid caps. All the Dells I've seen have used medium-cheap chinese electrolytes that dry up within five years.
