XP Pro

$900 about a year ago. Seemed like a pretty good deal to me.

I've upgraded it a bit since (added another DVD burner, TB HDD, 4870 1gb) and I'm about to throw in a new mobo and another 4870.

Prebuilts aren't great, but the dell outlet often gets you around the same price as building, and you still get a warranty. If you aren't seriuos enough about computers to overclock, there's no real reason not to go for a prebuilt.
