MSDN rocks. The only product we don't get at our uni from MSFT, however, is Office. For whatever reason, the standard applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) are not available. I've got Visio, but the standard stuff isn't there... odd. But everything else is FREE!

How many Windows 7 Ultimate keys do you get with each MSDN license?  What with the amount of PC's I have, 10 keys that each can be activiated 10 times is more useful than a single MSDN key.

It was rhetorical. I had MSDN during my Uni as well, because that was all I needed back then.

I dont know if its because im in the field now or something but I just would feel weird about it.

Besides, it seems like more of a hassle now a-days to pirate things like Exchange 2010 or Server 08R2 than it would be worth.

Well, I'm stuck between a helpdesk\desktop gig right now.  I could afford it, but I want my work to pay for it ideally.

For your current position, yes, they should pay for it.

Have something fail, go missing for awhile, then come back and miraculously fix it.  Works wonders.

Lol, I've actually done something similar to this.  Except I found an unknown issue when using caching of shared folders in Exchange online archive.  Got mad brownie points for that.

Acer EasyStore H340

Pretty simple storage server for the house, 4 hot swappable bays for a max of 16TB plus 5 USB spots and an e-SATA connection.  This thing can certainly pack in the storage well.  I have it hooked up to about 10TB worth of data between USB externals and internal drives and its doing great.  It runs on WHS (Windows Home Server) which is a piece of crap, but I managed to tinker with it a little to make it run perfectly well and stream with every device in the house (computers, Boxee Box, 360, etc).  It even has a bunch of add ons that can allow for iphone/ipad/android streaming.  My biggest issue with the software was that it didnt like you adding drives with data already on it, but I found a way (through RDC) to get it to work.  For $299 its a pretty good buy considering it worked pretty quickly, has a tiny size, has hot swappable bays and is powerful enough to stream with minimal tinkering.  Quite a few people (according to Google) have been successful in installing linux versions onto it as well.

Nice. I almost bought a device like that, but since I don't have that much space and we're about to move anyways within the next year I decided to buy two 2GB drives and have them mirroring eachother so I don't get my data lost for now. Definitely gonna get something like that and hook everything in the house up to it in the future

I have an HP MediaStore version of this.  Can't upgrade to the latest version of WHS because CPU isn't 64-bit.

I feel like you didnt read the last sentence of what I wrote.  Besides, it does everything I need it to do perfectly so there's no need for linux.
