Besides, I'd be surfing on Wifi 95% of the time, the cap doesn't really phase me.

That's the thing swaying me from the Nokia, I want Android.

Sony has the X8 and X10. HTC has the Desire, Desire HD, Wildfire, Legend. Samsung has the Galaxy S and Galaxy Leo. The Desire and Legend are relatively equal in most ways, but the Desire has the faster processor but a shorter battery life. The Galaxy S is a really nice phone, looks a lot like the iPhone and behaves like it too in many ways, but is riding on Android.

If you can wait until January, do so. New Android 3.0 phones coming out and if you want the most up to date version of Android, stick with HTC. Since 2.0 they've done an awesome job of getting the Sense UI working on them and getting the updates to customers real fast. The X10 meanwhile has been on the market since May and still doesn't have 2.x.

Don't want a Samsung.. don't like the look of them as much. Aesthetically, the X10 is the best looking. Better camera than the Galaxy S (Can't get the Leo here), and android 2.1 really doesn't bother me. It'll come eventually, I don't mind waiting, unless there's some feature which I absolutely can't live without. Is there?

I bought the x10 mini pro. Pretty much the same when it comes to capabilities. After two weeks of owning it I came to work late because the "alarm clock app has stopped responding". So close to slamming it repeatedly against a wall. And I was never late at work. The Android on X10s is an outdated version and I'm still waiting for Sony to update it.

I used a Sony W910 to wake me up. It did fine but was getting the so called "red light of death" often lately so I decided to get a new phone. I usually do a lot of research but this time I didn't, just went to buy "something" the next day. It has a really good camera though and the keyboard on the mini pro is just amazing. I wasn't really a "typing type" but now at least I respond to the messages I receive.

Yeah I wanted a smartphone too once.. Now I've tried it and since I don't use it for anything but texts and calls I'd rather have a small phone... preferably a clamshell but those are hideous these days...

And no finray.. Newer phones with new software + hardware are better than an old brick (reliability excluded ofc)
