[FSX] fps help

Im currently running Flight Simulator X with all graphics settings at HIGH which the system set for me when i first installed but im only getting an average of 6.0fps. Should I be getting more with this system?

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40GHz
3GB of RAM
NVidia GeForce 8800GTS 512 OC
Iv done the Can you run it test and some other ones too and it says my system should run it no problem at Ultra High!

and both service packs?

I heard that they improved performance with them.. worth a try if you dont have them

I have the latest driver + I'll try SP2 because SP1 is already installed with FSX acceleration.

Edit: I have FSX Acceleration and that has servive pack 1+2 in it.
+ with my system, what graphics settings do you think I should be able to use?

lol. Do medium settings at best, and try flying in sunny weather - not rain or anything like that. My X1900XT 512MB can handle 12fps at night in rain.

Its nothing unusual. I can run all medium at a comfortable fps of about 40 with my setup.

BTW: Do you have Vista or XP? Because FSX runs like shit on Vista even with he best setup.

Also reduce the rendering density for stuff on the ground.

Its all about processor in this game.

Yeah, but he has a Q6600 and I have an E6600 @ 3.2 GHz and I run it fine.

It doesn't depend as much on the resolution - but what settings you have. What plane are you flying when you get 30fps? Is that 30fps in or out of cockpit? Is it rain? Is it dark? Are all light textures on? etc.

true that was more for my personal info But I noticed a framerate drop when going from 1280x1024 to 1920x1200, so it does matter.

From my experience the autogen density settings make the biggest impact (look on fsx tweak guides and forums you'll see the same thing). The game is not as graphically intense as it is processor intense.

Oh resolution does matter, but it is just one of so many things that need to be taken into account. Unlike other games, you can't just say "I get 50fps"

Iv fixed the problem, I reinstalled FSX, must not have been installed right. Currently playing it with all settings on Ultra High and I have it on 1680x1050 res with 60fps thx anyways.
