BF2S Forums Awarded Badges (again)

It never happened to me,, but I read that it happenes when you get revived when their is no kit around for you to pick up.

So you are doomed to wonder the earth a lost soul.

private glitch.

for some reason sometimes when you join a server, it doesnt pull your stats.  it has you ranked as a private, you dont have any of your unlocks, and it believes you have 0 global points.

its not a big deal.  your stats will still report.  its just somewhat annoying when it does happen.

the server doesnt verify who you are properly so it thinks you're a private and you have zero points. So when you get kills and stuff it counts as if its your first game ever. Nothing to bitch about your points still counts

next time why dont you do a search. there are many threads on this, so don't waste a thread when there is an answer here already

This doesn't even really qualify as a glitch.

This is just a result of the server you are playing on getting a connection timeout when asking the stats server for you rank and award info. Usually after server switches maps once or twice, it will request a refresh your stats info and you'll be back to normal.

The local server doesn't know what you've earned so it just presumes that you have no data existing yet (you are treated like a new account). Therefore it will give out awards accordingly. All awards "earned" during this time are just ignored by the stats servers, but all of your accomplishments are counted.

I can see three downsides to this connection error:

1. You don't have your rank, and thus cannot use it to take the commander position if someone else applies.

2. You don't have your prerequisites for badges/medals, so even if you get 37 explosives kills, no expert badge for you.

3. *This one is the painful one* You don't have your unlocked weaponry. A few days ago this happened to me and it sucked because I hadn't used any of the default guns for weeks.

And I guess there is one last non-gameplay related item...

4. Without your rank appearing, people call you n00b for no good reason. I got into a jet (which I have logged almost 73 hours in), and was promptly told, "Get out of the plane n00b" by a guy with the [cough] amazingly high rank [/cough] of Staff Sergeant. Since it was a server that I frequent, there were several prompt replies from others on my team that there was just a glitch in my rank.

Seeing a someone ranked PFC up to Staff Sergeant is good reason to tell the newbie to get out (especially with how low the point requirements are for those ranks), but I give a private a chance because I know that half the time that the player is someone with experience and just didn't have their rank show up (well... I guess probably only a quarter of the time).

Random tangent: Long live the run on sentance, because they are just so cool and I love to cram way too much into a single sentance (almost to the point where it really should be a whole paragraph), but really it just shows that I put more thought than the average person into every one (maybe a little too much - and did I mention that excess use of parenthesis is amusing too?).

Hmm... maybe I should dump this into my siggy... maybe.

or it sometimes just has you as a private with unlocks...
