in germany, legislation is being considered to make it mandatory for all toy guns to be of a certain color, i.e. signal yellow.

This would make them more easily distinguishable from real guns. The story behind that is that there have been incidents such as mentioned in the OP, where police officers were facing a suspect with a supposedly real gun, and felt threatened enough to make use of their own firearms, in one case nearly killing a teenager.

I am all for it, tbh. Realism is fine, but not if it compromises security, for police officers and civilians.

Scenario: what if the 20yr old was a young police officer who was abusing his power. would this been an issue of gun-control?

This is just poor government feigning effort.
ATG had it right, maybe he just had his wording wrong. The 2nd amendment doesn't mention guns specifically, it says "arms". Maybe what he should have said was "limited weapon control is common sense", which I agree with 100%. No one needs a freaking grenade or RPG or a bomb for self defense, and most of us agree that these things should be illegal. How would you like your neighbor to have a .50 mounted on porch, or a nuke? There have to be some limits to the arms we can carry, but they need to be sensible.
Though I wholly understand your point of view I will stand on my original point.

Realistic Law Enforcement which we all favor, would negate need for any gun control at all,

Why does my neighbor have a car that can approach 200mph.  Does he "NEED IT " ? Could it be used dangerously ?

Yet, I do not feel threatened by it as he uses it in a completely lawful manor.

Good point, governments abuse of power is the reason we " The U.S. of A. " have  " The Second Amendment " to begin with.

It seems..In these Forums, Our Constitutional rights are usually contested ideologically by people still governed by the same power we as Americans were able to overthrow.

It might be some Darwin genetic thing.

The only Question about the " The Second Amendment " should be, Could a Government be capable of abusing its people.

Hopefully we all still know the answer.

I don't think there should be laws against fake guns, but I don't think there should be laws protecting people who were shot because another person, cop or pedestrian, mistook their toy for a real gun. If you're dumb enough to have a realistic toy gun with you in a place where it could cause confusion, or if you are wielding it as if it were real, then you're practically asking to be shot.

Considering the fact that most fake guns are neon colors or have those orange tips, I don't see what the point of restricting the use of fake guns is, unless someone makes a fake gun designed to look real and is used in a crime as if it is real.  Under that kind of situation, then the severe punishments should be there, if the criminal does something like rape someone at gunpoint (since the gun would appear to be real and have the same coercive effect).
A lot of people remove the red tip or paint the gun to look more realistic.  That was actually the case not too far from here in Memphis a little while back.  I small boy was waving and pointing a very realistic plastic gun at police.  Sadly they had to take him out...

Agreed entirely on this one. Or at least make it illegal to make fake guns look realistic in public places - who cares if you do it in your back yard...

Hm...yeah.
After all, it's no big loss to most people.  Why would anyone want one anyway?  So what if the government bans stuff without a real reason.  It was their perogative to deny our rights from the start./sarcasm

If the government wants to ban something, they had better prove why they want to and that the benefit outweighs the costs.  It hasn't been done, in this case.
