I decided to undust my TV today. It was made in 1982. I got the honor of breaking the warranty seal.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

No, but it's been unplugged for two months. I don't really give a fuck, either. I live, and it still works, that's all that matters.

If you remove the high-voltage cable from the tube, they might be a bit shocking, but to just remove the rear cover isn't some major hazard. That thing hasn't been used for a while, either.

Potentially, if you were to damage the evacuated chamber.

A bit...yes, like, 30,000V @ high amperage.

To just tear any CRT TV/monitor apart is not recommended. You're supposed to discharge the capacitors and the suction-cup-looking-thing that connects to the vacuum tube. This can have a very very high load even a long while after you don't use it.

The amount of load in most TV's can kill you very easily so, it's best to discharge it.

capacitors can shock the fuck out of you

the capacitor in a disposible camera could be enough to kill you

Writing freezer is appropriate because it looks like it's been snowing inside your tv.
