Hey i was rendering a video, and it only renders a black screen, no matter what compression i use, just a black screen? Anyone knows how this happens? How to fix it?

Check to make sure that you dont have "Render loop region only" checked in the Render as dialog box.

I also have sony vegas 8.0....   big learning curve when it comes to rendering.
I'm still learning myself.

You have to select all of the movie you want rendered with the scroll bar at the top, thats how i do it.

Edit, or hit Ctrl - A, and then make movie.

Are you getting a rendering progress bar as it renders? or does it terminate/complete almost immediately?

Check to make sure your project properties  (file/properties) settings in Vegas match the render settings.

You may be getting a render error that is not properly being displayed.

No errors, it just starts rendering, but in the render preview screen its also black. Its not black when im not rednering yet.

You have to select the movie from beginning to end if you know what i mean.

Just left mouseclick at the top of the audio/video track till the end and then preview in player or render as.

I know that............ Maybe this is relevant: I compressed movies with VirtualDub (Xvid codec), only the movies who have been compressed that way, give a black render. But I dont have the origional files anymore, so I have to use those which I have now.

Render them back?
Because i thought you had to convert them afterwards to the xvid codec, isnt it?

I compressed them because the fraps files were to big, i want to collect a lot of recordings before i start on this movie.

Found a fix on google...
Download AVI FourCC Code Changer and just change both boxes from xvid to divx, thats all. Although i do have to do this with 100 files, but ok, at least it works
