First thing Google will do is clear out all of the copyright infringing videos, methinks. Nice move for Youtube though

Google video will end up with all of the videos from youtube, and it will probably redirect when you type youtube.com in the address bar.

Not a surprising move IMO. Youtube and other video on demand sites have been getting a lot of attention lately. Google, Yahoo and the other "big ones" were bound to have to start their own or buy into an existing site eventually.
I AM however a bit surprised at the price. However, with payment in stocks, it's pretty much free for Google anyway, but in reality the stockholders will probably be pretty pissed if this isn't a good investment. How they're going to earn $100+ million a year on Youtue is beyond me though. They must think that this is a way into a more profitable market than just the "userfriendly video streaming" that Youtube has now.

yea alot of this deal remains to be seen. who knows how this is all going to play out. the amount doesn't suprise as much as the purchaser. i would have though for sure that yahoo would be the ones who would have purchased youtube. oh well i guess i will just stick to my day job.
