Hey guys, here is my thing...

Currently I have 2*256MB sticks and 1*512 MB stick in my computer, making that 3 RAM sticks.

I am planning to take them all out and place in 2*1GB sticks in the corresponding slots.

Now here's the question...

If i have the 2*1GB sticks in the right slots, would it slow my computer down or make it worse if I put the 512MB in there as well, so it would be 2.5GB total RAM?

Or is it better to just leave it at 2 GB?

Thanks in advance!!

i think the more slots you have the more memory you should put in right now i have 3 gigs in my comp so deffinetley make it 2.5 gb youll notice a bigger difference from 1.5 to 2.5 gigs. i am always one of the first five to join.plus if you dont have graphics on high you can without laging alot.

If the 2 1gb sticks are dual channel leave it at 2gb.

yes you may have more memory in your comp but it can cause serious problems.

If you are using an Athlon 64 (x2) then you definately are hurting yourself with the odd size/number of sticks. Using a matched pair of dual channel sticks in the blue slots only is the best configuration. If you have an older Athlon XP or something then odd sizes/numbers dont matter and more is better.
