I've been enjoying the fallout from the ABC cut announced this week. Feel for old Malcolm a bit but he really should have put a lot more work into his spin.

Christopher Pyne too when he learned that one thing the ABC is looking at ending due to the cuts is TV production in his home state. He was riling against it and insisting cuts should be made elsewhere like 7:30, Lateline, and Q+A - the programs Liberals always insist are biased against and mean towards people on the right.

There's this fantasy on the right that the ABC is biased. And there is a grain of truth to that but it's not of the ABC's making. See you can't take a 1,558 day absence from Q+A and then complain that it's not putting across your side of the story. Just like when Scott Morrison was moaning about how the ABC was against Team Australia for reporting the burned asylum seekers despite the fact they asked for a comment from his office to get the other side of the story and he refused them.

I'm getting a bit tired of the Liberals making decisions on morality, as far as I know appearing in snuggle films isn't yet a crime, nor is associating with such actresses, and teaching people how to pick up women isn't going to undo democracy either.

Since both major parties suck such ass, I think Aus needs a UKIP (sit down Ms Hanson). Maybe Clive Palmer is it - I have a good feeling that he doesn't have a downer on porn.

Also, you're commenting on the conservative party. They don't like much other than other rich white people, money and 'traditional' values (if you are a pedo though just make sure you're part of the Catholic church and they'll let you off in some moral sense or another).

I've got no problem for a pornstar-cum-bollywood-actress (see what I did there?) being hosted by anyone, and feel she has been denigrated for political reasons because conservative morals get votes.

I am actually astounded that a govt could be so inept at getting legislation through.

The miners are getting a good deal, as are the Chinese, its not all bad.

Also while that siege was going on Craig Thomson was found not guilty of 49 fraud charges. Still 16 theft charges to be ruled on.

Edit: Looks like he's still guilty of theft.

Not really been paying attention, but sounds like a shitactic to me.

Why wouldn't people be enrolled though?

Might be their first election, might be a number of other reasons. The very short time to enrol would certainly cut out a number of first-time voters - who don't tend to vote Liberal strangely enough.

I don't mind all that much either. In NSW they're doing a pretty decent job - the ones who aren't corrupt are anyway, (and corruption exists quite prominently on the other side as well.) I don't know too much about how well they're doing in Qld but I understand Newman's lot is on the nose with a lot of people and an early election suggests Newman knew his polling was on course for a heavy landing. As for Federal... well that sort of had to happen, no-one thought everybody's buddy Ruddy should have stayed in charge of the self-flagellation nation that was Labor at the end of their last term. And Tony Abbott is just too entertaining to be living out his political retirement hiding from failure in New Zealand - at the moment anyway, when he gets turfed out is another thing, (he can live in Greymouth if he wants to.)

So I learned today that I'm expected to live till 150. This means I will be retired for 85 years.

It's comforting to have a treasurer so grounded in reality.
