I pronounce it man-aze. But i often use the shorthand mayo when I speak of that creamy white condiment.

I had no idea that was a Jersey thing.

The mischief night thing is innacurate in that it doesn't go as far into Maryland as it should, we have that here too.

Either I expect too much common knowledge out of people or Uzi is right and I hang around some stupid folk. Played Trivial Pursuit yesterday and was shocked by how little people knew. One girl never heard of the seventh inning stretch, people only tangentially knew who Salvador Dali was, nobody else got the clue about a certain Irish playwright jailed for homosexuality, and a guy going to med school answered Archimedes for the clue about a Greek physician considered the father of medicine.

Do any of those things really matter to someone's life outside of trivia pursuit?

Depends on what you do, but it falls into what I would consider common knowledge. People often asked me "how do you know that?" when I answered, and I had to respond "how do you not?" I know I've got a better memory for strange things than most people, which is why I was able to recall Akron, Ohio being a rubber powerhouse, but like Jeopardy, you can use sometimes use context clues to reason your way to an answer.

Well, there are a lot of dumb women who are dazzled by obvious intelligence and trivia knowledge. 'OMG you are so smart! You make everything make sense' so I guess there is that. Though the best dating advice I could ever give is to never date someone noticeably dumber than you.

I just found a show called Hannibal on hulu. It's...interesting. If you saw the movie, Red Dragon or read the novel, it uses those characters. So, basically it's what happened with Lecter when he was consulting on all of the FBI before the events in the Red Dragon movie. But, hulu only has a handful o the most recent episodes. Worth giving it a shot.
