Whats worse is that if I pop in my CPU in that new motherboard and it still does it that means my CPU is shot. I do NOT want that to happen.FloppY_ wrote:
Mine is BSODing (or freezing if you want to call it that) between once or twice a day or twice a week, tests won't show errors all the time so I can't RMA it I thinkNaturn wrote:

Intel i5-2500
ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3
ASUS GTX 560 TI 448core DCU II (Tri slot cooler O.o)
Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB DDR3 1600Mhz (Blue)
Corsair Obsidian 650D
Corsair Hydro H60
€940 (Probably sounds like alot to some of you, but hardware is more expensive here)
Going to pick it up tomorrow, 2 hour drive each way but the boss lets me do it because he needs a bluetooth dongle and some cables picked up aswell
EDIT: Had to get the GPU somewhere else as 560TI 448core's have barely arrived here, it should come in the mail the day after tomorrow!

When I bought my E8500 I was expecting to put it up a notch (since a good chip can push past 4Ghz/core), but I discovered how much of a clusterfuck CPU OC'ing can be and how much testing you have to do after to make sure it is running perfectly...
It's not worth the effort imo, I'm sure when you know what you are doing it's a piece of cake, but since each chip OC's differently, guides don't offer much help and it's all trial and error...

...however, u should know that sandy bridge, sandy e and ivy are different. their architecture are designed for it. maybe you will not hit 5 GHz, but i'd say you will get to 4.3 GHz, easily... the k model is what, 100 kr. more?FloppY_ wrote:

OCing nahalem and sandyrbridge was miles ahead of conroe. Its super easy and I've seen no stability issues as long as you're modest at first. But you'll be fine with the stock version.. Its just nice to get extra bang out of the chip.Beduin wrote:

i bought a shredder, 79.99 on sale for 29.99. I will probably be buying a new monitor soon. Any recommendations? I have a 19" now, and was happy with 1440x900, dont really want to go over 21" because of prices.
get one second hand. I managed to get 2 x 19" and one "23 for £100 give or takeCanin wrote:

for a fatty you're a serious intellectual lightweight.
What's your budget?
Nevermind, its going to have to wait until after the first of the year unless I find a good deal. I figured out the EDID is transmitted through the DVI cable. My wife has the same monitor as I do, so I swapped them. I kept the analog connector on her monitor, while mine was DVI. They are both working for the time being.

Ordered that last night. Going to put them in my computer friday. I'll post picks of before and after.

what are they?
audio-foam rests for my monitor speakers. stops the speakers from unwantedly striking a resonance with whatever surface they're put on / surfaces that surround them.

would those also stop vibrations travelling through the floor then? in my building the sound insulation from neighbour to neighbour is amazing, but for floors below each other it's awful. I have to use an EQ when it's late to not keep people up with the lows bleeding through
probably not because that sort of thing would just travel through the air, anyway. but it would definitely help. the main and immediate benefit is that it stops stuff on your desk and your desk itself from vibrating when you're playing them at volume (of course again not counting the air pressure from the cones themselves, just talking strictly about audio frequencys and material resonances). i guess technically without having them, playing at volume = makes your desk vibrate = makes your floor vibrate = annoys neighbour.

i didn't buy them cause i give a fuck about neighbours... i buy them cause i care about audio quality, and about my room not vibrating like a horrible mess of sound when i'm trying to play music at high quality.

nothing wrong with radiohead. especially at university. i think half of my student halls in my first-year pretty much repeated radiohead endlessly
