Don't worry, in about a month they'll start practically giving away games at the holiday sale...

Winter sale will be better. All I picked up this time was Limbo. Kinda over Steam sales anyway, haven't been getting as much stuff there as I used to, got too much other stuff to play.

I picked up a few odds and ends from my wishlist

Deus Ex HR: Missing Link
Deus Ex HR: Tactical pack (Silenced sniper-rifle was something I wanted through the entire game)
Sanctum: Map DLCs
Orcs Must Die
Fallout NV: Lonesome Road

Other than that I already owned the games I really wanted from this sale, didn't want the rest enough to warrant a purchase...

At least compared to Sanctum and Fallout NV, I had the most fun in Orcs Must Die.

It is also because the games on sale are often the same in each sale, I owned or had no interest (and hence didn't buy previously) most games on sale for this one and the last one.

I think it was GFWL more than the Social Club. Took me about 30 minutes to start playing the game between the two, but GFWL was the long-term nuisance. There was a period of about three months where GFWL just would not work for me, at all, no matter how much I installed, patched, uninstalled and reinstalled. I had to get the no-GFWL crack after a few weeks just so that I could get to play the damned game.

It ends before it gets old. I haven't finished the extra content yet, though.

I didn't buy the add-on... 5 levels didn't sound like much and I tbh I thought the last few of the regular campaign were tough enough...

The extra ones are pretty challenging. They're worth it if you find them dirt cheap.

I think I'm gonna get Brink. A lot of the reviews seem to complain that it's not worth a full price title, but $6.25 isn't a full price title, so yeah.

Steam forums complaining of it being laggy and shitty and community is dead.

Community dead was to be expected...

Laggy and shitty should be a well known fact by now...

But surely things would be improved since launch? Free weekend to check it out, thankfully.

Improve?

However much you polish a turd it's still a turd...

I really can't think of one redeeming feature about Brink to be honest... it mixes features from CoD and TF2 and somehow manages to make it feel even more dumbed down, however impossible that may seem..

If the maps werent all horrible abortions it could have been salvageable but they were. Bugs, gunplay, balance can be tweaked. Having no good maps cant. It sucked because the art design and the tying of the game into a storyline were really good. I still think that kind of movement can work in MP FPS, but it should be more like Mirrors Edge and less "hold x to parkour". Same thing in the new Tribes game, you just hold space to ski around and dont have to have any skill at all to ski better or worse.

You cant actually climb in BF3 though, which is the actual interesting part of it. Not just a nicer looking way to jump over obstacles.

I'm quite pissed that you can't look around while on a ladder.
Also that the ability to quickly slide down the ladder has been removed.

It's not like you can look around whilst on a ladder in real life, can you?
