Just received a SSD and W7. I would like to submit for a rebate on the SSD, but my other new parts are not here yet as I have not ordered them yet. If I install W7 on the SSD in my old PC would it be an issue to just plug it into the new PC when the parts do arrive. Maybe a couple of weeks before I order the remaining parts. (waiting on i5 price to drop a bit.)

Not recommended to do that. Just wait for the parts.

Why is there a noise like a de-tuned radio coming through my right speaker?

e: comes through the right channel on my headphones when i plug them into my speakers too.

Long story short I caught one of those fake antivirus viruses yesterday. It locked down my whole computer and wouldn't let me do anything other than stare at it doing fake virus scans. Anyway, I rebooted in safe mode and did a restore to 2 days ago and when I booted up it was gone. I turned off my internet and did a full virus scan with Avast Pro and Malware Bytes Pro afterward and it came up clean. Yippee right?

So am I in the clear or is there anything else I should keep an eye out for?

alright my 6950 goes from 100% totally fine to instant BSOD/system crash when I'm overclocking

I did that furmark stuff and it OC'd fine to about 90mhz core overclock but then it crashed again

isnt it supposed to start artifacting first

Buy an external HD or secondary HDD and start backing up all your music, docs, movies that you want to keep. Then do the same for any utility programs, virus scanners and device drivers you may need.

Prepare for the problem to occur again and if it does I would consider a reformat and fresh install of windows. Then load up with the above.

I don't often reformat myself, but always have the backups on the standby if I have to.

A restore to two days ago might save you, but there's no way to know how long that virus was dormant.

New hard disk and rebuild, there's usually a performance gain and you keep your data just in case.

unix font rendering is just so much cleaner and aliased.
