I've been trying to ask around, but nobody seems to know what the teacher wants here. (I'm taking math online so people at school are learning slightly different things)

3)    This question is a little more complex, but not beyond your abilities to reason. In question 1), you were given the numbers 1 to 20, and told to form geometric sequences from these. What is the maximum common ratio you can use for these sequences? Please explain your reasoning. Hint: this question can be answered beautifully by using the geometric mean.

The geometric mean of a data set https://upload.wikimedia.org/math/8/6/4/86409ad98d42def41b424f22e814da2c.png is given by:

from there, it should be pretty straight forward.

That's the geometric mean, but how does that alter or give me the maximum common ratio in the sequences?

What Geometric Sequence did you play 1 .. 20 into?

It asked for as many as I could find, and I got

a)    1, 2, 4, 8, 16
b)    1, 3, 9
c)    3, 6, 12

you meant 83km, right?

If he did mean 83km - (83/51)x60=97.65(rounded)km/h

Fuuu.

Since this seems to be an impossible to answer question (I've asked everywhere. I guess I'll just take the point deduction.

Thanks guys.

edit: maybe a bad example...
16 8 4 2 1?

That's the exact attitude his English teachers took when he couldn't work out a Geometric Sequence.
