I'm looking to get a new mouse pad. Currently I have some hard surface microthin mouse pad and an Mx310 (which I love). The backing on my current mousepad never sticks and I'm getting tired of it slipping. I bought a cheap cloth mousepad from Fry's but with the mx310's feet it moves too slow for my taste.

I'm looking at Razer, SteelSeries, and XtracPads (if there are other good companies let me know). Anyone have a cloth mouse pad from these companies? Are they smoother/easier to track than the cheap cloth ones? I really liked the XXL pad that Xtrac has, it's massive, but I'm worried it will be too slow.

These are the ones I was looking at.

The thickness of it doesn't bother you?

i have no problem recommending it, i tried quite a few.
when you find what you like, please post - i'd be happy to hear. . . .

*edit; no, i thought it would - i keep one edge along the edge of desk, and my mouse never leaves it. it has a solid feel, and and smooth. even though it's textured, my mouse glides.

Alienware gave me a fatty hard mouse pad when I got my computer and I love the feel compared to a soft mouse pad. Steel Series has been a good brand for me so far, that would be my suggestion.

I too used an Alienware one they gave me (hard surface) when I bought my laptop, and I fell in love.

But then when I forgot to take it to i37, I bought a Razer Goliathus (Soft mat) there and it's now my main mouse mat.

If you need something that doesn't slip, then either get a soft mouse mat or get a hard mouse mat which has feet to hold it to the table. It's your choice, really (Hard mats are easier to clean, though).

I have a steel series, has worked very well for me for coming up on a year now (this is with a G9). Easy to clean, and I have had a better experience with it than a previous Razer xact mat. However, they did step up their game with the new Hard Pads, which work very well as well (my brother has one.) If you have a logitech mouse, I find cloth pads to work very well, but with a razer mouse you definitely want the razer pad.

I had a steelpad 5L (counts as a hard pad?) but grew tired of it. Bought a steelpad qck+ (cloth) and I couldn't be happier with it. Cleaning it is no harder than picking it up and giving it a good whipping, and it can actually survive being spilled on.

I have an IceMat (I think the company that sells them was bought out). It's made of glass (at least it looks and feels like glass) and I love it.

Pretty sure they got bought out by steelseries. Have one of those going back awhile as well, but it got too grimy for me, probably didnt take good enough care of it though.

So clean it

To get rid of scratches you just need a permanent marker (preferably the same colour ... i.e. easiest with a black mouse pad) and colour in the scratches on the underside.

i'm using the steelseries QcK right now.  (not the heavy)

it's good, but the black color makes it get dirty easily.
