This happened YEARS ago.
Depends what kind of auto transmission he got put in. If it was DSG (dual shift gearbox) then it makes it even quicker to drive. It has two clutches, with alternating gears, meaning the transmission can change gears in 0.6ms, so minimal loss of power. Its being used in the new porsches, and was used in the mkV golf gti and r32.

This is Weird, Lambo has an "Egear " option in its Murcielagos, which means you can put in auto mode and let the car do its own thing. You can also change gears with paddles ( or that was my understanding). Not sure why Auto is such a big deal.

EDIT: Just looked it up, tiptronic is a normal auto gearbox, that can be switched to a "fake" manual transmission. Used with paddles or with the gear stick in a certain position
