Well. The worst case scenario came true. What started out as just getting her gull bladder removed, it turns out my mom has cancer in her gull bladder and liver. It's not looking good... It's hard to type with watery eyes.

Cancer sucks... seriously.

We were all so optimistic. it's was just supposed to be a quick snip.... Now she's getting shipped off to some treatment center hours away......

How early did they catch it? If they caught it early enough, I'm sure she'll be fine. I'd remain optimistic. I've had cancer scares, my dad and grandfather HAD it, and we're all okay. Remaining optimistic is the best thing you can do.

Is she going to Sloan-Kettering?

Well the good news is that they have found it. Some people aren't so lucky, and only find out about the cancer when it's too late and spread throughout their body. If it is only her gull bladder and liver there is still some hope. Hold onto it and try to be positive around your mother as best you can.

I wish you and your mum the best of luck.

Not very early. She's seeing a cancer specialist tomorrow to find out more.

I hope she gets better soon, Mitch. As Poseidon said, if it's caught somewhat early it's very treatable.

Well, if she's going to SK, they have some of the best doctors in the entire world. I really wouldn't get pessimistic or anything. Early at all is better than late.

I wish you both luck though and I hope you guys get through this.

That sucks, but all is not lost.  Wait to see what the specialists say.

My grandmother is a two-time breast cancer survivor (decades ago), plus she had some other cancer more recently.  She is doing fine, now...and cancer treatment has come a LONG way in the past decade or two!

If the cancer has not metastasized too far, this might not be that bad.

If they're sending her off for treatment then there's every chance she'll come out of this just fine, it'll be hard and she'll need you to support her, so stay stong

I'm sorry to hear that.  Be there for her.
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something.  - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.

That's a nightmare. I can only commiserate. Try to be strong for her, because whatever you're going through she'll be going through it times ten.

Just got home from the hospitol. She saw the Oncologist which is a cancer specialist (must be a shitty job) and appearently in his words it's an 'ugly' type of cancer. She has to have some treatment (radio or radial of some sort cant remember the name) to highlight the cancer so we know what we are dealing with. Then i guess it's going to be chemo.

I really hoped we would hear good news from the specialist.

For some reason today was so much easier to see her, even with the bad news about the cancer. No tears today.
