If you fall backwards, you should aim to hit first with your shoulders and then your buttocks - try to keep your head slightly tipped forward too.
Remember: A sack of shit will land like a feather, if you keep your feet and knees together. Remember.. knees and feet together - five points of contact: balls of feet, calf, thigh, buttocks, pushup muscle. Push the hips into the direction of the fall and roll/fall into it along the five points of contact. Oh, and avoid using a bravo
Get proper gear and you won't have to fall off.
The force of the impact when landing on your feet could snap your spine and brake your legs of course. Landing on your back would give you more surface area and spread the impact over your entire body. Both of these are bad ways to fall. From 30ft and the speed you would be dropping it will be very hard for you to make the decision then execute it in such a small amount of time, you will be so pumped with adrenaline and fear you won't be able to think quick enough to execute it. A 30ft drop is going to do damage, no matter how you land. The damage will more then likely be fatal.
Trying to roll as you impact is the best way to absorb the damage.

If you fall backwards try to land on you feet then do a backwards somersault. If you fall forwards, do a forward somersault after you land on your feet. You want to release all that momentum in your roll so not all the pressure goes into your bones.
