This is what I did...

1. Downloaded Rampage Formula BIOS 0401.ROM and Engineering Sample Afudos flashing utility.

2. Burned a Bootable DVD

3. Copied the Afudos and BIOS file to specific folder on my HDD

4. Booted with the DVD

5. using DOS commands flashed the BIOS. At first I practiced with normal P5E BIOS to be sure I remembered the correct command. Then flashed the Rampage BIOS.

AFUDOS /i0401.ROM /pbnc /n

6. Rebooted to see a nice Rampage Formula POST picture

I now have A LOT more features and options in my BIOS and overclocking should be better and vdrop should be minimal now.

I now have a board that would cost 100USD more than the P5E.

so i get this and do what you did?

im utterly confused today - but that's a pretty sweet mod. any chance the flash wont work?

Why would vdroop be less? I though that had more to do with hardware than software?

I read about ppl having a lot less vdrop after this. I will test that when I have more time.

lol ok... Looks like I don't have vdrop at all now.

1.288v idle and 1.288v load

Needed some sleep. Now gotta go working...

If you do the flashing right, it is highly unlikely to fail. There is that 0.01% change it does but that is always there. These new boards are nice because you can basically recover the BIOS from many places like mobo driver cd if I remember correctly. So if BIOS flash goes bad, you should be able to fix it really easily.

I think this is worth it. Takes only couple minutes but you get a lot better BIOS settings, no vdrop and better OC.

No vdrop is the thing that will improve OC nicely. You get more stable vcore and can use lower BIOS voltage for same OC.

I will do some OC testing with my E2180 when I get back to my PC.
Typing this 100km away with my brother's laptop.

Hell this cheap Asus board is epic. Getting better mobo with BIOS flash is really rare thing. Actually almost $100 better.

Is there much in the way of hardware differences betweem the two? That can specfically cause conflict n such. Am just quickly thinking here but for instance, doesnt the rampage have dual ethernet and the P5E is single? I suppose tho the fact u could only connect one would mean a problem physically cant arise. Nice one, am looking into these boards a lot of late

I haven't heard about any conflicts with using Rampage Formula BIOS.
P5E, Maximus Formula and Rampage Formula have same PCB and pretty much all the same stuff like same chipset, PWM, etc. Using Rampage BIOS on P5E unlocks these hidden Rampage features on the board.

I also heard that the brand new Rampage BIOS 0403 works on P5E without probs.

very nice, if the GT200s are pricey as expected, then i'm definitely going the modded P5E + 4850/4870 way. first ATi card and Intel chipsets! bit nervous actually.

yeah. awsome savings. Don't be worried about the ati + intel combination. I didn't have problems with that.

haha i'm just not used to the ATi settings equivalent (whatever it is), never actually seen it tbh. and never navigated a Gigabyte mobo, although I do have an ASUS.
