And how do they check where the cables go? After all, you don't see much within that bunch of cables...

I dunno, but it must be easier than this:Stormscythe wrote:

Well, it isn't. I've been tidying - or well, rather mucking out - the network of the company where I worked last summer and it's way easier to follow a loose cable than following the one in the middle of such a bunch
I'm actually tidying up my room right now (OMGZORZ - Pics coming soon) and I will re-route my network of 8 extension cords, 6 Ethernet and in the 30's of computer power/other cables that are running over my floor.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

What i'm wondering is how they prevent cross talk...
OCD can be useful, I guess.
You noticed that too eh....
That's a good thingFreezer7Pro wrote:

Naw, let it be. While you can still tell the colour of your socks within the mess or whether you're just wearing socks or not, judging from the smell, there's no need to tidy up your room.Freezer7Pro wrote:

Well, when you have a ton of identical equipment in a single rack, it's only really a matter of starting out one way and hooking every new unit up the same way. Anyone who can make a mess of that is just lazy. Which is a perfectly good excuse.
You only really get crosstalk with UTP when the ends are poorly terminated into the connector, and even then, it's just limited to one cable. Unless you have high interference runs in poorly shielded cables right next to your UTP, there's nothing to fear, and it's a standard practice. Typically you'll find hundreds of UTP cables bundled together with zip ties behind any patch panel.Brizzzer wrote:

Must not have a whole lot on his plate to spend time finessing cables like that That or he is an hourly contractor.
They're probably new.
I have no idea what I'm looking at here
THAT IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!
Here is ours before and after clean up...
It made it SO much easier to deal with... And we were smart enough to label both ends of all cables, eliminating the need to trace most of them out. So much easier to deal with...
