Why didn't you go with a SLi motherboard if you're planning on going all out anyway? If you would've done that you would've got the absolute max (Quad SLi with 9800GX2 anyone?)

Sorry to hear your shitty rig can't handle Vista.. His monster will do fine tho, stop trying to seek attention by posting Vista bashing in every thread you get the chance too.. (Not aimed personally at you more at everyone who does just follow the hype)

Ah that makes sense, well go get a single monster card once their out then I hope DDR3 RAM really does perform that well for you.

Besides, there is a chance his X38 board may get some SLI support at some point.

Really? How? I thought only the specifically designed SLi chipset boards support it, sure it's hackable but explain me

My Q6600/AsusP5K/2 GB 800mhz/X1950XTX running vista was slow, put it back on XP, faster than any PC ive ever used, Vista shits me.

Then your settings were bad. My computer is not as fast as yours and my Vista runs perfectly.

Nice setup, I would go for DDR3 OCZ ram, though.

I doubt any Intel chipset (except Skulltrail board) will get SLi support anytime soon. And they already said there won't be SLi for X38. (Because nvidia doesn't give the damn approval )...

People don't have to be rich as fuck to buy these things. I just bought a top of the line PC in July that equaled over 2200 dollars and got it via selling things, birthday money, presents, earned money and other stuff.

For some people, it's just a hobby. Like for me. I'm probably buying a Q9550, 2 9800 GX2s and an X48 by summer. Why? Because 1) i'm a major tech enthusiast and 2) i don't piss away my money on pointless things.

Srsly. You don't have to be rich to afford a nice PC.

Anyways, nice rig. Waiting for the GX2 is the best option you can go for, and you can't go wrong with A Q9650.

One thing I'd suggest though is more HDD space.

Excellent point, for all anyone knows, this guy has been saving for years!  Unlikely perhaps, but it's a real downer when people automatically assume, ooo u rich so no biggie.  Granted, there is an element of vanity flashing such a high end machine on the site (although, knowone HAD to read it), but like Poseidon said, machines like that arent the preserve of the wealthy, some guys just prefer spending there money there, rather than literally pissing it away down the pub, for example.

Good on you mate :]

Well, so far as I was aware (corrected since apparantly), Intel where pushing hard for SLI support on there boards, but nvidia arent playing ball.  Which isnt atall suprising.

Although, considering Nvidia helped on the demo board (skulltrail) running SLI on and Intel chipset, we could see support for SLI on intel chipsets in the future.  But, perhaps not on X38, theres no reason why not other than Nvidia saying no.

You know what would happen to nforce chipset sales if high-end Intel chipsets supported SLi? It would be like, shooting yourself (nvidia) in a foot...

Can't fault the rig, I'd suggest these as replacement fans though, those Vantec ones aren't all that great TBH.

What's with the case?

Apart from that and maybe having a storage hd (750gb WD) it looks immense.

because it was the most expensive he could find, like i said before I don't believe a word of this. I want to see some pictures. Until then this is another pointless thread so that someone can try and brag about how big and bad their fictional computer is.
