I have been on the fence with Georgy boy for a while now. . . .

I thought he was RIGHT in attacking Afghanistan and Iraq, however he did made mistakes in not properly assessing the realities on the ground after we took over. . . .

He was RIGHT in lowering taxes, cause those of you who make any money realize that more money given back to the people as opposed to the government is the right/fair decision.

I could list more, but thats not what the purpose of this thread is about!!!

His latest move of supporting the recent immigration bill, shows his total and complete disregard for the American people and his political party. This move of support for a Teddy Kennedy sponsored bill is not only irresponsible, but flat out WRONG!

He is not doubt OUT OF TOUCH of reality. . . .in every sense of the word!! This is coming from a Conservative Republican. . . may I stress NOT a right wing Republican (as I am pro-choice).

Fucking unbelieveable. . . . I can put up with bad intelligence in regards to war planning, but selling out your party and your country to a bunch of law breaking illegals is unacceptable!! Therefore, George W. Bush and those Republicans who supported that bill (including John McCain) are dead to me. . . .

True, the bill is terrible, and I have been disappointed with Bush in the last year or two as well.

Vote Romney '08!

This is really the main flaw with the republican party right now.  I agaree with 90% of their values/beliefs, but there is too much loyalty toward the party.  One should not vote for the sake of the party, but for the sake of the country.  People need to think for theselves more and vote for what they believe is right/wrong.

Yea, I'm a Bush hater(well not really a hater. I just have little respect for him) too.

I agree as well!

However, his supporting of this bill compromises every conservative principle I can think of!! Therefore, he is showing his complete disregard for the future of his party.

This bill is bad for America, not just the Republican party btw!

lol!!

I am keeping my eye on Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson as guys who follow conservative principles.  McCain, Romney, Rudy are idiots. . . . I wish we had someone that motivates the base of the party, but right now we are stuck in mediocrity. . .

When Fred Thompson announces his candidacy, I will be stoked!! Same goes for Newt! Some people dont like Newt, but he is right on most issues that I have heard him speak about!! He is a smart historian, that knows the political game in Washington, and won't sell out our basic American principles!  I can't say that for any Democrat or Republican currently running for President. . .

The whole point is that I respect politicians who make decisions that run contrary to their party's beliefs more than politicians who make decisions that are in line with their parties beliefs, every once in a while at least.  They should do what they think is best for the country regardless of what any party believes, be it their own party or an opposing party.

THAT my friend is a good question!!

Bush supports a Democrat immigration bill, they lay off his war in Iraq! Could totally be a possibility!  Ted Kennedy sure beats the anti-war drum hard. . . .Bush/his administration supports Kennedy, Kennedy gives Bush more time to figure shit out. . . .I bet your right!! Cause I can't see any reason why any Republican/midroad Democrat would support such a damaging bill. . . .

This current support of his administration PROVES he is a politician and is motivated by having a good "legacy". . . .and not motivated by being the right decision maker on a very important issue in our country.

Although supporting this bill damages his legacy in my opinion way more than solidifys it!!!

What you see fadedsteve is the difference between a conservative and a neo-con. For example conservatives are for smaller government (Take a look at what Bush has done to expand the role of government). There are huge gaps in the two political ideologies. Conservatism is not a Republican pre-requisite neither. In fact, some of our greatest Democrat presidents have been conservatives who stood behind lower taxes, tighter borders, capitalism, and less government intervention. The GOP has lost their way, not only with the President but with the majority of the party. In this forum I see a bit of conservatism in nearly everyone here. Whether they realize it or not..lol . Just don't confuse neo-cons and conservatives. The "new" conservative idea is not where I place my political leanings. I won't lie, I voted DEM in the mid terms. Charlie Crist (GOP) is owned by the insurance companies, and our taxes are completely screwed up. And that is the biggest reason the local residential real estate market in FL has gone to hell. Nothing like having your mortgage go up $700 a month....

Kmarion I agree there is a difference, but George Bush has alienated everybody ESPECIALLY his conservative base (which is me) now. . . .

It has gone past the point of no return on this immigration issue. . . .As a native Californian watching my state turn into Mexifornia, I find that bill insulting, irresponsible, and flat out wrong on so many levels!!

That bill DOES NOTHING to curb the biggest problem, and thats security! If you don't have a secure border, how in the fuck can you process the millions here illegally already??? What this bill is, is more government!!! Its more government fucking up America!! You think the government is going to see any of that "$5,000" fee they are proposing?? After groups like the ACLU and La Raza send everything to federal court protesting the fines??

Its makes me so mad I could spit!! I am furious at the GOP and the Democrats, but most importantly I am furious at George Bush for selling out. . . . . I know the Democrats have shit for brains, that is not a surprise. But to have some select Republicans and George Bush support a "shit for brain bill", it makes me incensed beyond repair!!! Like I said, George Bush and his fellow GOP cronies who supported this bill. . . .are dead to me!

Awwwww, did you guys realize now that Bush is on his last term he doesn't need your votes anymore? He doesn't have to pander to you anymore? Surprise suckers, your hero is just another politician. He told you what you wanted to hear so he could have eight years of doing what the people who really pay his bills wanted him to do and now he has no more use for you. Welcome to reality. Of course I'm sure none of this will stop you from voting for the next candidate the GOP puts up, I'm sure that one won't betray you. Hell, if you're really good maybe the next one will give you another sop like a border wall or a federal marriage amendment a few years before they shaft you in the ass again.
