The right to bear arms can do wonders. There is a social problem in the US (this is like the 200th school shooting since 1999?) but they're too busy policing the world, and cannot prevent homeland shits like that to happen.

I think guns should be legal, but with more attention paid to WHO carries them. I have a piece, and I love knowing I have it. You never really know how important a gun is, until you're in a situation where you need one and don't have it. I respect almost anyone's reason for wanting to carry heat. But one must understand that for every reason there is to allow people to carry guns, there's a reason to not allow it. It's a huge gray area.
Usually when I see someone say either, "Guns allowed", or "Guns banned" as blanket statements, I stop paying attention. Obviously people should be allowed to protect themselves, and just as obviously, people should be able to feel safe from mentally ill people and dangerous people getting their hands on guns. The solution does NOT lie with guns and whether they should be allowed or not. It lies within the psyche of the people who carry them. Maybe it should be legal to carry a gun, but only after a background AND psychiatric check. And then SUPER stiff laws on people getting caught with illegal weapons, not just when they use them.

What would you do in such a situation? If you had a gun and were holding it the campus/local police would be likely to shoot you. Besides, "no guns on campus" isn't going to do much for a shooter that ultimately kills him/herself, is it?
EDIT: Not to mention that so many people brandishing weapons and firing in a confused situation is more likely to get innocent people maimed or killed.
